Genetic Species

Hi Fells's,
I am really into this game - the last big game release to ever grace the amiga. It's a FPS and I think it's easily as good as Quake if not better. However I cant work out how to save. The readme says there are save points in the various levels but I cant find them.I have found an energy crystal and thought at first that I had therefore found a save point.......er no.HELP SOMEBODY PLEASE!!!!
Thanks in advance
Dave
PS Genetic Species rocks!!!!

I don't remember very well but I think once you get a crystal you must use it with F keys and it will save the game

Well, it's basically just a Wolfenstein-ish engine, so not really that hard to make it smooth.

It was coded by demo sceners (Ambrosia) and they spent quite a bit of time on the code.

How many Wolfenstein engines did you code for Amiga then?

Yeah TCD how many did you code?

Explains why it was so smooth. It looks great and plays well. Might have to get through this myself.

You have to find a "Bioshifter Pod". See attached screens.

I bought this as an original, graphically its phenomenal (there are some really nice little touches that make you go FUCK!, as you progress in the game, things you don't find in screen shots or YouTube video's of the game)

BUT!!! ... I got about 75% of my way through the game back in 1997 (or whatever year it was released) and the game had a BUG that would not allow me to go any further!! So i haven't bothered with the game ever since

Back in the days, there was a special, smaller Aga only version( without the intro video etc) of the game Genetic Species.
It was downloadable from back2roots.org.
I think I have lost my copy on hard drive crash;
If someone would have that version of GS,
maybe it could be uploaded to th Z ?

There is a version on aminet. Maybe the same?
https://aminet.net/search?query=GS-FullGame

You need all of them

Thank you tero, but that is not the version of GS I' m searching for..
Don' t remember exactly, but it was Aga only and somewhat smaller total size. It was readytoplay; no problems with configuring ..
If someone remembers the Hd version of GS that the former back2roots website used to have, thats it!

Seeing that the game is free since 2001 I guess bttr simply had a premade setup for aga. They had those for a bunch of games.
As for the size: note that the files on aminet contain not only the game but required install files for rtg and ahi too.

I also think that it is the demo version you are searching for: http://aminet.net/search?query=geneticspecies

Played the demo on the C.U. Amiga or Amiga Format CD in late '97. I thought it was very impressive and also looked well made as a game (not just a technology demonstrator).
The demo on those CDs supported AGA.
Spyros is online now
