WinUAE allows me choose 1GB of RAM and 68EC020, is this a bug?
WinUAE Public Beta 17, 2018.01.6 allows me choose 1GB of Z3 RAM with an otherwise standard 68EC020 CPU.
But my understanding was that the 68EC020 only had 24 bit bus so could only address 18MB of RAM?.. Is this a bug? |

68EC020 = 68020 selected and 24-bit addressing ticked and it does not allow memory outside of 16M address space and upper 8-bits of addresses are ignored. Or did you mean something else?
(Note that many crazy or "impossible" combinations are allowed by design, for example 68000 with full 32-bit address space) |

ah! cheers
didn't spot the "24 bit addressing" tick-box, and didn't pay enough attention to the fact it says 68020 rather than 68ec020 What can I say it's been a long week, mind you it reminded me of something, the rumour mill before the A1200 was announced, most of my friends - myself included - had been hoping-for a full 68020, and expecting it to only have 1MB of RAM so CBM could flog you an upgrade... Anyway, cool, cheers, I will pay more attention next time |
