Do you have good speed, then? I have 96MB downloaded so far, and will be able to start uploading tomorrow afternoon...

You think 30-40kbs is slow?
Yep, probably is...

My connection's not that fast I'm afraid - max external bandwidth for my server is set to about 128kbs so I guess that's about 3-4 peeps at a time with the speeds you're getting...

I'm more than happy for it to appear on other servers but please make sure the ReadMe goes with it.

P.S.
Thank's very much T.C.
How's things?

Thanks, mate!

I shall be rather busy tomorrow. I'm picking this lot up in the morning.

Don't worry about it, Charlie. At least it doesn't take all our bandwidth, so we can have this discussion while leeching.

@TCD

You are absolutely correct, Charlie knows the respect I have for him as we are very good friends...
I happened to put your name first as you posted last I guess..

@Charlie

What can I say, I just got it running and it is absolutely superb, love the ICONS and the Boot backdrop

Superb effort and defnitely deserves the "Classic" moniker.

Now if ony we can talk Tom Walker into adding real Hardrive support to Arculator so we can hook up a "Real" Acorn HD and be able to create working HD's for our real Acorn's with this superb setup, that would really be the icing on the cake.

It's one of the features I rave about with WinUAE as it allows you to backup & trial setups too...

Anyway to summarise.... Simply SUPERB

Thanks again Charlie

TC

AFAIK this simply isn't possible through Windows. I've got a tool that will dump a hard disc, and could be modified to write one back, but it's DOS only.

Actually it is extremely easy on any NT based Windows

I stand corrected! I was probably still on 98 when I last looked. It's not a feature I'd consider a priority though.

Thanks for the many kind comments chaps. Lets not forget:
No Arculator, contributors to the RiscOS server, the writers of all those lovely apps+utils, & Acorn of course...
...no Classic RiscOS. My thanks & appreciation to to you all.

Hi Tom

Many thanks for your response, it's great to talk with you.
I have had many happy hours with both Arculator & RPCEmu and would like to take this opportunity to say a BIG thank you and show gratitude for your support & commitment to keeping our Acorn machines alive.

I also appreciate your listening regarding real HD support with Arculator and although as you state is not top of your priorities list, what can I do to help bump up this much needed feature.
Adding this feature would be creating a strong bond between emulation and the real hardware and would surely benefit all the real hardware guy's out there.

Emulation is superb especially today's emulators, WinUAE, Arculator, B-EM, BeebEM et all but most people would agree that there's nothing like using the real hardware, The ole A3000 & A3010 are not networked easily (& the hardware is rare) and moving files by floppy is sooooo slow.

More importantly being able to use the same HD setup on your real home Archie & then on your laptop whilst away would be brilliant...
Backing up the systems too...

So Please Tom reconsider and have a little think about how it can be done....
We do all appreciate it...

Best Wishes
TC

@guys.............any comments / support ????

FWIW:
I guess with all the hard work Toni has put into WinUAE he may shudder to hear the primary purpose I put it to is for file transfer: CF card in Amiga transferred to PC for UAE to read.
On the subject of HDD support for Arculator & RPCEmu that's something I would also love to see for much the same reason...
...there's only one Tom & I know he has other priorities ATM so if this feature could be added @ some point that would be fantastic, but no pressure old chap.

Oh God mate, that's what I use it for 99% of the time too
and occasional Emulation when I'm away from home too.

Regards

@TC:

There is a potential way round the HDD reading conundrum...
-Plug Acorn HDD into PC.
-Fingers crossed 'doze doesn't bugger it
-an app to take a raw image of said HDD
(choose your favourite)
-name the image hd4.hdf
-fire-up Arculator with fingers crossed

File transfer via ArcFS built in to Arculator

Hmmm, getting data to go in the other direction...
-RiscOS >v2 will write Fat Floppies
-bigger files?
