I started very very young with a Spectrum. I probably didn't really know what was going on, but nevertheless... 20 years for me, I think.

I might even have been younger than that but I can't say for sure. I do have a few vague memories of dying a lot on Sabre Wulf and Jet Set Willy and I must have been about three at the time But I could well have started sooner than that if we had a computer back then (and I think we did)...

On my Atari 65XE in 1987, but before that my cousin had same computer, so it's ~25 years.

Around 1987, starting out on arcades and my cousins' Atari console.

So 23 years. Bloody hell.

I assume that we're talking about video games, not Lego and such?

I remember playing some breakout clone on (what I learned years later was) a friend's Atari 2600 at the age of 5. So 30 years for me.

hmmm...

The first memories of computer games I have were of a big black box that you could hook up to the tv with about 20 buttons on them - most of the buttons linked to the same game (some sort of shooting game with planes flying over and cars driving below).

Two of them linked to two other games though; a game where you had to drive around in tanks and try to shoot each other, and another was a cowboy shooting game where you would stand on the left and right and try to shoot each other with bouncing bullets, with oval shaped trees in between to protect you.

I couldn't have been older than 4, which makes it somewhere around 1985 / 25 years ago. Still have no clue what that machine was though...

Like Graham I'm not 100% sure, I don't remember *not* having a ZX Spectrum around. I had several games for very young children bought for me - 'Postman Pat's Trail Game', 'Shape Sorter', 'Harry Goes Home' and several 'Learning Box' titles. I expect I was probably around 4 or 5, so I guess about 25 years (although I didn't really play anything between about 1998 and 2008).

I've have no idea!

I remember playing an Acorn Electron which came out in 1983, so I would say around 1984/85 which would make me 3 or 4.

Video game arcades or "Amusement Arcades" were only really found at the Seaside in the UK (Once upon a time...etc...) These Arcades were where my first love for Video games came about.
This was on family holidays back in the Seventies - I can remember some very primitive games even before the Space Invaders and Asteroids boom.

At school we all had hand-held games - they were really popular, then of course ZX81/Spectrum/Vic20/BBC computers... I had left school before the release of the Amiga!

I still love all the oldies but for me each new generation of gaming and gaming machine is just as exciting - got to look forward!

Late 80's - so I'd say 20 years. It was a black Speccy+ 48k given to me by a neighbour (he'd clearly upgraded given the age of the machine and was MUCH older).

Something changed that day!
