Amiga 3000 super kickstarts

I have a rev 7.3 A3000, KS 2.04 (37.175) and was wondering if I could make use of soft kickstarting or would I need to get an earlier ROM?

What steps would I need to do to set this up?

You need the 1.4 ROMs.

Steps needed:
- FFS partition with the device name WB_1.3: and have the 1.3 superkick file in WB_1.3:kickstart
- FFS partition with the device name WB_2.x: and have your 512k superkick file in WB_2.x:kickstart

If you only want a 512k superkick, then you can omit the WB_1.3 partition. The Workbench 2.1 and 3.x install disks have the capability to automate this setup.

That's not exactly true - you don't have to install 1.4 ROMs. You can download softboot and boot any 3000-specific ROM...

Sure. I have never heard of softboot personally, could you give a link?

I have used blizkick, skick, and mkick successfully depending on physical ROM / CPU card combos, so I can recommend those personally. OP, read the manuals, choose the one that will work for your particular setup (most likely skick).

What I answered was exactly true, but did not cover every single interpretation of the question. I chose not to ask questions but instead gave an answer based on my first interpretation of the question. Swapping older ROMs was mentioned, so I assumed the asker was looking for the Commodore superkick solution. Edit: and even the subject of the thread refers to superkick .. sorry for answering the question. ;-)

Now it's time for the OP to tell us what he really wanted and we can continue working from there.

I was originally meaning super kickstart with physical ROMs as that's all I was aware of.

The softboot method looks quite good too thanks r.cade. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do!
