Englisch version of manual of Special Forces is bad.

I only get this text as downloaded file...:

There Arnie:
Special Forces : Hall Of Light – The database of Amiga games

Thanks for reporting Josh, issue confirmed.
As a temporary workaround, the version you can get in the zip file (which includes the 3 manuals) seems to work fine, if you want to get the manual now.

I'll take a further look to the file and try to upload it again. Hopefully it will solve the issue. However, since the PDF in the 3-manual zip file is fine, it should have been the case for the single file too .

It's a problem with the PHP update that RCK has to solve. (You might try to upload it via the web interface lilalurl and see if that works)

Ok, I'll try to launch that during the night.

If it still does not work, I'll try to upload an optimized version because the first thing that came to mind was the file size being quite large (although that should not be an issue).

You can try both, but it's quite sure that something broke during the update Still would be an interesting test (and to track down the source of the problem)

I up loaded these just as the update happened do you think they became corrupted?

I made the PDF and it's fine as is the version in the zip There is a problem with the PDF download that RCK needs to have a look at. Not much we can do now (or lilalurl will find out what soon ).

The upload of the original (30Mb) PDF through the web interface failed (no suprise there).

However I managed to upload (FTP import) an omptimized version (via FTP import). A piece of warning though to whoever would want to get it, I have not checked thoroughly the 90 pages of the manual after the optimization.

Tonight I'll try uploading the original PDF to see if the insertion of a new manual in the manual listing can magically solve the issue (and does not break another manual direct download).

Thanks Josh my pleasure mate, I didn't scan the manual that wasn't one of mine, but it was my lucky opportunity to crop, rotate and improve all 90 odd pages

(At least it wasn’t as bad as the M1 tank platoon manual I did)

There a little voice in the back of your head that says "Is anyone ever going to want to f**king read this??" (normally kicks in about page 45 ) and now you've proved that voice wrong.

You've helped motivate me to trawl through a load more now mate, cheers

Good work Lilialurl

Nice one Cody

There's a proper team effort on HOL isn't there.

Everyone should contribute if they can, it's good fun

Some further tests:

- Upload of the "original" manual as manual #5 gives the same issue.
- Upload of the "original" manual with the last page removed -> same issue
- Upload of the previously stated manual (original minus last page) with first page removed -> same issue
- Upload of the version stated just above with only page 1 to 9 left (tog et a very small file size -> 3.12 Mb) -> same issue

Ofc, they all opened fine on my computer(before going through the FTP).

So based on the last test, it does not seem to be an issue with a size limitation, since the "optimized" version weighs far more (10.4 Mb)

Not really sure which part of the Optimization process in Acrobat solves the issue. I'll try to do some more tests when I can but I must admit I don't have a specific lead to follow.

I uploaded some even bigger manuals before the crash/update with the same way of 'producing' them, so I'm still tending towards a problem in the interface than with the PDF itself In any case RCK needs to comment to solve this issue for good.

The HOL upload max limit was at 30MB, so this "bug" was already there before serveur upgrade
I just change it to 60 MB for direct browser upload(post) of new picture.
Memory limit have been also upgraded to 64MB instead of 32MB to let big picture display possible.
