I don't change the watermark size since their were introduced.
Have you some screenshots ? maybe something goes wrong with latest php version.

If you check Turrican2 with his very old screenshots and DBS, you will see it's the same size
I think you can see them more clearly on some simple layout games.

I really like exotica too, if you'd like any of my personnel box scans I've done for HOL just let me know.

I see your point about the water mark but it's not as important as scanning and saving the stuff for all to see freely.
