Does Elbox CDTV 2 works with Amiga 1000 ?
Please check the card here: http://www.cdtv.org.uk/elbox.html
Anybody knows if Elbox CDTV 2MB or the edition with the 8MB works with Amiga 1000 ? |

If the A1000 has a 68000 DIL CPU then yes it will work.
But it will be expensive. If it is not urgent I would wait for the next releases by either LordV or mrmkl which are bound to be cheaper. |

It works as long as you have another autoconfig device (and no more than one).
That memory expansion is an autoconfig device. The 68000 socket lacks CFGIN/CFGOUT expanssion bus signals. So the device monitors the CPU bus for auto-configuration writes of the base address register (indicating the end of configuration process) of the first auto-config device (in CDTV it's the DMAC) and than shows its autoconfig ROM in $E80000 space. If you don't have any other autoconfig device the memory won't be added to the system resources. Fortunately correctly working memory will be present in $200000-$3FFFFF (2MB version) or $200000-$9FFFFF (8MB version) address space. You can use a program like addmem and specify base address and memory size to add the memory to system memory list. I don't know if it fits in an A1000 but long time ago I used this expansion in my A500+ with a DataFlyer hard disk controller. Worked flawlessly. IIRC Elbox has made an Amiga 500/500+ version of this expansion (8MB) - same form factor. But I don't know if it works with other autoconfig devices. |

The A500/500+ version is called 500/8.

Ok, so if I have an A1000 with 512KB and Elbox CDTV2MB installed, kickstart and workbench 1.3 disk, what should I do to enable the 2MB of RAM ?
Alexh, do you have more info about LordV or mrmkl projects ? Last edited by dir_marillion; 15 January 2009 at 09:33. |

Check on the A1000 boot disk for a command named "addmem". It will do the trick, I hope.
Shame Elbox have such a crappy costumer support, they filter any new mail as "spam"... |

Ok, if it is working, adding "addmem" command to the Startup-sequence and as it is fitting inside A1000, it should be a great option!!
Has anyone tried it, to be sure before I buy it ? |
