Happy Games you have replayed first few levels but never finished and why?

Hi.

I am sure many of us have a huge "Games To complete" list . What I'm looking for is games you have played the first few levels or starting area many many times but never actually finished the game and why?
Here are a few examples if games on my list

Rock n Roll - Too long
Golds of the Aztecs - Too Challenging
Jim Power - Too Hard
Wolf Child - Too hard
Tusker - confused what to do
Time Machine - confused what to do
Time Soldier - Too hard.
Cruise for a corpse - difficult

I'm sure there are many more games you have in mind.

Share yours.

Kid Chaos - maybe because first levels are fun to play while rest ones are too hard, like monsters do too much damage to Your health and there are levels that give You not enough time to complete them without memorizing route, or there is too high quota of stuff to destroy, or because there are some parts that require precision jumping while at high speed it's not easy.

Not really. Games you've always played the first few levels only and stopped for the many reasons we all have.

Another one is Xenon 2. I think I've played it about 100 times. But found it too hard as it progressed.

Yeah about 50% of my Amiga game collection. Reason for most of them: too friggin' hard. Reason for the rest: something broke (disc/copy protection). I can't think of anything particularly interesting to mention here to be honest.

Hoi - too hard even first level but I love title and in-game music. Turrican 3 - broken crack - few levels missing. Cyber Force - I don't know where I should go and climbing is not easy task. Gulp! - as a kid I thought it will be famous like Lemmings but no chance to watch longplay on YouTube because of high difficulty. Sword of Honour - strange items which I don't know where to use. Steg the Slug - too many things to follow at the same time.

Soccer Kid, I still cant beat the last boss.
Chaos Engine, never got passed Level 2.
Golden Axe, arcade classic that I just find too hard to beat

Apidya - I've never been able to get to level 3 without cheats and I guess I'll never be good enough.
James Pond 2 - It's actually one of the few Amiga platformers I like, but I never made it to the end, because it's too long for one go. I might give it another try on WinUAE with savestates some day.

Goblins 3. Tried to complete the game few times, but always got bored somewhere in the one half or so.

I don't think I finished many great games. They were either too hard or too vast and that was what made them great.

Games I know I wanted to finish but didn't because I lost interest before the end
  • Chaos Engine - It's not much fun single player.
  • Alien Breed - I remember loving the music and the gfx but I don't remember past level 2!?
  • Jurassic Park - I really wanted to finish this game. I had loved WTSS on the spectrum (which was ported from ST to Amiga recently) and this was very close in my mind to that game.
  • Cadaver - The controls I seem to remember got frustrating? Sometimes you had to restart because you lost / couldn't pick something up.
  • Damocles - The solar system is so vast and so empty you spend a lot of time looking and finding nothing. The time spent vs rewards just tailed to nothing.
  • Chaos Strikes Back - I loved DM and I really wanted to be able to do this without cheating but it was too hard and your party could die instantly too often and it just stopped being fun.

Games I shouldn't have played to the end but did :
  • Castle Master
  • Total Eclipse
  • Dark Side
  • Driller

(I just seemed to like Freescape games but they really were bad looking back now)

Killing game show - keep replaying it for its thumping soundtrack. But unfortunately I drown to often.
Awrsome - like above but die in the topdown shooting part

So you play a cracked version of kgs? If so the protection was never removed properly and the water rises sooner and faster than it should

Yeah I read somewhere on EAB that cracked version water raises too quickly, even still I think I need the water to to raise at all for me to complete the game

I completely agree 110%. Speaking of which is there an ingame trainer or cheat for this game or a trained adf available? I'd imagine I probably still would get stuck playing with a trainer due to the complexity level design in this game.

Beating DM a few times won't make playing CSB any easier.

Gods springs to mind - have played the first few levels many times, after which it becomes very difficult and dull.
Chaos Engine - love those first few levels, gets too hard too quickly though.
Fire and Ice - water levels suddenly make the game dull and needlessly punishing.
Apidya - sewer level is tough, never made it past robot bee level, will persevere though, brilliant game.
Quak - brilliant but I am just not good enough, still keep playing those first levels though.
Rainbow Islands - played many many times, never got past toy island 4. Too manic for my skills.

On a positive note, I did finish Supercars 2 after more than 20 years.
