So keeping up with my Arcade goals for this year I beat Blazing Star yesterday. I don't have a lot of experience with shmups so this was one that I've been wanting to play for a while and I had a good time with it.

Just finished my REVIEW of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves on the Wii. While I do love Wario Ware and certainly having a great time (most of the time) with Smooth Moves... it just seems a bit rushed, offers some control issues and some truly baffingly hard to grasp minigames... and the multiplayer aspect is obviously an afterthought.

Bit.Trip Beat on the Wii is a conceptual and audiovisual triumph. Too bad it hates the player and does its best to make the game not funny to play. I wrote a REVIEW.

Completed Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I thought it was great and all 3 of the re-booted series were good.

Was tempted to purchase The Last of Us for PC but early reviews are baaaaad, mainly due to the waiting of patches to fix bugs.

Just playing around with some Virtual Pinball and getting the colour DMD working. Indiana Jones The Pinball Adventure still the best for me

I think I'll give Phoenix Fighters on AGA Amiga CD-Rom a go again this weekend. It's a souped up Thrust clone but I real hidden gem and probably the only good thing to come out of Alive Mediasoft (AM)! AM stole the money for my OS3.9 preorder (I think that they knew they were going into administration and therefore offered me the Beau Jolly pack instead when I chased the order which I stupidly refused and got nothing)! They also gave me a discount for pre-ordering Napalm and then delayed shipment until I paid the difference back to RRP! Great game Phoenix Fighters though!

Don't get it confused with the unreleased 3D space combat game Phoenix which also looked amazing! I wonder if the released Mac version runs on Shapeshifter?

Edit: Titan Computer never released the Mac version either though a Windows Version made it out in 1999!

For my next Arcade game I beat this year I beat Armed Police Batrider yesterday on MiSTer. It was my first bullet hell game and it was a lot of fun.

Last night I played The Oath for the first time on the Amiga. The opening title sequence and the colours convinced me it was an AGA game I was guessing from post 1999. When I looked it up today I was shocked to see it was OCS from 1991. Another hidden gem, I'm discovering lots of them.

Been playing Daggerfall Unity again, this time with a boatload of mods. It's kind of shocking to play Daggerfall but it doesn't crash or bug out every 10 minutes.

Metro Exodus. The start of the game feels like it should have been a cutscene. Shooting is fun and the atmosphere is great too, but being pulled out of moving on your own for some 10 second dialogue is quite annoying. I can see that the game gets good, but I wish games would not force me into some 30-90 minute 'interactive intro'.

Got Ishar up and running despite the disks being unreadable on the A1200! Luckily my other 'miggy could still read the disks to create a WHDLoad install! Great atmosphere for a glorified Dungeon Master game and it's only the OCS version!

Inspired by Decino who is playing Doom 1 & 2 on nightmare difficulty (which I will never do, screw that), I decided to play Doom 1 & 2 on ultra violence for the first time in my life. Started with Doom 2 and had quite some problems at certain points, especially map 10. Not because the game is too difficult, but because I ran out of ammo :/ But I managed by simply not being too picky with having to kill literally everything, and now I've moved on to Doom 1. Which is hilariously easy now that I've been battle hardened by Doom 2.

Yep, on UV you will need to use either the chainsaw/berserk or infighting if you want to kill everything. Oh and Doom is hilariously easy until you reach episode 4
