Wanted ROADWARS 16 Blitz Budget Version

I hope I've put this on the right board?
If I haven't then I apologise.

I'm looking to get hold of either a physical copy of this admittedly unpopular game, as I believe the budget version is actually a different game from the original Melbourne House version.

If no one has a copy to sell that's fine, but would it be possible to request the rom even at this point?

If that's a problem, could someone who actually owns this rare version confirm that their copy is either identical to or a different game from the Melbourne House original?

I believe the 16 Blitz version is meant to be identical to the actual Arcadia Coin-Op version (which is super rare in it's self).

Here's a video of the Arcadia version, if anyone would be helpful enough to compare:

I'd love for someone to clear this up for me.

Thanks in advance

Sorry about that.

Yes, I have WTB posts for most of the versions on Amibay (jncluding looking for info on who painted the covers for these games).

I've been looking to complete a small set of games related to the Arcadia Super Select System, and Roadwars is the one that interests me the most.

Thanks for the link to the roms.

I've checked out those roms before and they seem to be just the same ones I can find on Planetemu.

I'm just looking for an owner of the 16 Blitz version who can confirm if is the same as the one in the above vid, or identical to the normal Amiga version.

Cheers

I checked my budget version and it's identical to the Melbourne House version. I can provide you with a raw dump, but I probably won't be able to get to it until the Christmas break.

I'm guessing you've been duped by the use of an arcade screenshot in this review of the budget 16 Blitz version.....correct?

When I first saw that shot, I thought it was a mistake as well (and maybe it is?)
But I've found 2 different Amiga mags that were covering the 16 Blitz label just as it was getting released, and they claimed that game would be released for ST and Amiga (with the Amiga version been an enhanced version dubbed RoadWars II).

I just wish I could find the source mags again.

As I've said this is easily cleared up by someone who owns a copy

I can then put it to bed for the article I'm writing..

Cheers

Yeh, I'd believe that.....PR managers often promised the world and more when new labels were launched back in the day! I have a feeling that one of the mags you are talking about might have been The Games Machine. Anyway, if you come across the 16 Blitz label launch news items in those mags again.....then please post the sources in this thread. I'd be curious to have a read of them myself.

EDIT: Yep, TGM (Issue 24) and C&VG (Issue 96) talk about Mastertronic's plans to release Road Wars II on their new 16 Blitz label.

Thanks mate, in fact I do think it was Games Machine who posted that nugget.

It's good help for me as I'd be happy to buy the original games to test myself but this version has been very elusive so far.

Mustn't have made many copies?

I'll keep checking eBay for a copy as I still want one to help complete this Arcadia set.
