Adding SCSI to Blizzard PPC - is it possible?

I compared high resolution photos of non-SCSI and SCSI versions of Blizzard PPC. It seems like the PCBs are exactly the same. The only difference is missing: controller chip (53c710), terminator chips (UC5603DP), 50pin connector and some smd components (mainly resistors and caps).

I estimated the price of aforementioned components - it should not exceed about $50.

Has anyone tried to add SCSI controller to non-SCSI version of Blizzard PPC? If I purchased the components and soldered them to the card, would it be enough to get SCSI working? What about firmware? Is it really worth it to take risk?

Its a little more than that, its also in the firmware, however I have successfully changed the bus speed over a year ago but kept this information out of forums until now.

SCSI bus is now clocked by the PPC oscillator, but there has been further changes as no overclocking is allowed on the standard card,so my Blizzard card is the first to have LSI 53c710-1.

Its to early to judge its performance, but playing back DVD disc showed no problems and sysinfo shows 5.7Mb sec but I was not getting DVD smooth playback its almost there and seems to be around 19-22fps.

Better configuration of all software should show better results but please note this test was done with maximum settings on all software including screenmode on a standard 300Mhz card.

** OS3.9 **

The problem with smooth DVD playback does not seems to be the SCSI bus or DVD rom drive performance, but something else which I will look into when I have time.

SCSI CHIP: LSI 53c710-1... .NOTE: this chip has marking 3400563 and is dated 9938.

Test done with maximum settings including advanced setting in all software.

Bvision Sgram set to 100Mhz,next test will set at 120Mhz and will be using 380Mhz card.

Please also note there is no advantage of user upgrading to a faster chip without change of bus.

Normal card half speed of 68k max 72Mhz

My card half speed of PPC oscillator minimum 75Mhz - 78Mhz max.

OFF TOPIC:

Err I am not sure if this can be shared. I have found the problem with 1.2 I needed to raise the stack,so 1.1 & 1.2 I can see no difference at this time.
