Minimising attached picture size

A small suggestion for the file attachment feature...

Running PNG images through a program like PNGOUT, I've found that can reduce PNG file size to under 1/3 of the original (for screenshots with a small number of colours). I use a command like
pngout infile.png outfile.png -c3 -d0

It would be great if the EAB forum could do that automatically for uploaded images. And also, either automatically do it for existing attachments, or allow the user to replace their existing attachments with smaller versions manually.

You can perform a rudimentary minimising of image size by uploading it to an album in your Profile Page.

This might not work in all situations but can be useful sometimes.
