Would you believe, I actually have one of those DB50XG cards, though I had other plans for it, also one on eBay right now, for pretty cheap.

Finding a new one is likely to be impossible today, however, I suspect that the wavetable synthesis on more recent PCI cards can match the XG anyway, so for PCI equipped people that is probably the way forward.

I wish it were true my friend, but am not so sure that it is. , unless of course your willing to spend a lot of money ( £100 +) for true midi XG wave table sythisis on the card and then too write your own drivers. of course i am sure as you say that if your willing for a lesser sythisis then obviously it would cost less.. but i admit i am really tempted to get create a Korg version of the wave table adapter project ( one of the latter modules can be loaded for over 1000 instruments with 32 or 64 multitimbrals(voices/channels) too). hmmm Med-sound studio would be almost heaven.

I am also interested in seeing if one could (*adapt*) an old isa card(s) that has the wave table on them as well.

Heys my friend, just a little update... I bought a KORG tinity synth wavetable card.

Specs are almost the same as the DB50XG

4MB of GM/XG (compressed)
has 32 timbers (NICE!)
comes with 540+ instuments/voices (preloaded)
full DSP effects
*echo
*chorus
*Vibrato
etc.

i got it for 25£ from ebay in the end.. i will keep you posted to let you know if it can be *modified* or in atleast a minor substitution for the yamaha.

That sounds brilliant! All the best with the project... Maybe when its done you should let Matthew at Amigakit look at it. Maybe it could be a commercial product.... It certainly seems a bit like the atlantis over at individual computers http://www.jschoenfeld.com/products/atlantis_e.htm

indeed.... indeed... i was just thinking that if this project can run directly with standard wavetable cards imma sure that a comercial ready to plug in kit could be made available...

another interesting idea is converting the amiga audio out into a digial source and then plumbing it through the dsp for use with all its feautures feature.

hmmm i wonder if i could get it to load instruments to the wavecard via serial or even parallel... hmmm... might need to make it also external power...

you know... i am a little excited... (and contrary to bippym's sugestion, its not sexually either...)
