A1000 hw questions

Well, it's been a while, and i'm getting older; much older than my A1000's..
For the sake of not burning any hardware, i'd like someone to remind me which way does a Zorro card hook (externally of course) when utilizing a bsc adapter. Is it components up/down, front/rear facing backplate? Gosh it's been so long! And while i'm at it, a few more questions: What happens if you wanna plug an A500 external peripheral to the side expansion? I'd appreciate pictures of examples even more! Last but not least, my two machines are NTSC (110V) and the third is a PAL (220V). Would the PSU pinout be the same in both cases? I need to know in case (knock-on-wood) of one failing, would they be interchangeable? Is there anything additional i'd have to look after if say, for example i exchange the 220V PSU with an 110V one? (Of course it would go to the appropriate mains ) Thanks!

No idea. Identify a 74 series TTL chip and beep with a multimeter which lines on the card edge are ground and which are Vcc. Then check the same lines from your expansion cage. Fit the card so that the pins match.

You plug it in, support it with a pile of books and turn the A1000 on. Access to the joystick ports may be hindered, depending on the A500 peripheral.

The expansion plugs in the right way up, but it's rear end will be facing you in use. Do not plug it in upside down.

Yes.

@Jope: Thanks for the answers mate! I'm sure i've seen pics of such expansion setups in the past, but can't recall any specific one..
If memory serves me well, (doubtfull) my Zorro IDE card was with components facing up, but i wouldn't swear on that.

Easy to spot Zorro cards: first two pins are ground and normally attached together, 3rd pin is +5V.

On Zorro cards, first pin is the one on the back on the card, when looking your A500/A2000 from the front side.

On A1000 the power pins are the most frontal ones. Since on A1000 the expansion slot is on the right side, expansions intended for the A500 must be mounted back to front.

Hope this helps a little.
