I tried the ADF and found it would not boot on my system, so here is an alternative which I made for the compo, which is just the WHDLoad version but on a disk. Tested with WB 3.1.

Good work. I haven't tried the ADFs under WinUAE but I might have a quick play about tonight to see if I can get any of them to boot. However it's great there is an alternative so shouldn't be any problems for anyone hopefully.

Looks & sounds ok but the gameplay is a bit naff.. rather annoying when enemies drop on you from platforms you can't even see.
Most magazines scores are low, but Amiga Power gave it a whopping 80% so I'll assume the reviewer was drunk at the time

Got to level 23. Didn't like the game at first but it quickly became fun.

Just to point that the WHDLoad version linked is ancient and I couldn't get it to work properly on my Amiga without some serious graphical glitches. The slave has been rewritten by StingRay since then and the pre-installed version is on the EAB FTP or one of the mirrors - I downloaded that and now it works like a charm. So if anyone's having problems that will solve them.

As for the game - I like this. Simple, charming, fun - the only real negative that I found is the controls weren't as responsive or as slick as I'd like.

Made it to lvl 24.
Still don't like the gameplay.. and it looks like I'm the only one with this opinion

But something important;
I've only played the latest whd slave so not sure if it affects all versions, but when you die and start a new game, it still resumes from the last level you made it to. (putting you at a score disadvantage since the early levels are the easiest.)
The only way around is to relaunch the game every time you die.
May have happened to a few without even noticing, since the levels look so similar.

I play WHDLoad version (not sure which release, I will check later) and it starts in the last reached level (with resettted score) only when I use Continue. If I start a new game, it always goes from level 1.

I doubt I have the latest slave, but I do not have any mentioned graphic glitches (A1200).

A new rule has now been masterminded by the mods, and will appear in the opening blerb shortly.

If you complete the levels, pause the game on level 45 and take your screenshot.
Score = Points (and if you complete the game) + Lives x 10,000.

You can pause even after killing the final enemy, so make sure you do that quickly, because if you bump off an enemy to complete the level, it gives less time than if you inflate an enemy and wait for it to rise slowly. I would also ignore collectables on the final level in case you run out of time and cant grab the shot. Players unable to prove their lives will not get a bonus.

No Continues are allowed in the compo, so when players get to the continue screen, I suggest they must wait until the timer ticks down to zero before they start a new game. I've had to press ESC and wait for this many times, and the music will change to let you know you started a new game.

Lifeschool, what I mean is that the game is 'continuing' even after you let the timer run out.
Looks to be bug in the latest whd version only, so just a heads-up

Thanks for clarifying, now I understand. Have you found a working solution? If so, can you PM me any files or tell me any changes you made? A player on Lemon also reported this, but I cant replicate the bug on my system. The ADF linked is a mirror of my WHD folder, using the same 1.2 slave, and was tested with 020. I have both Cycle Exacts on if thats any help?

I too found this issue. Your not alone ED-209. I think it's only in sting-ray version which is 1.3. I downloaded 1.2 which was linked in the thread and that starts from level 1. But in 1.2 I've found that it doesn't ask for your name so you don't get on the scoreboard.

I also stumbled into same problem with WHDLoad-slave v1.3. I tried with Amiga 1200 + Blizzard 1230-IV. Version 1.2 worked with this system and game did ask for name. You have to get score over 30k for scoreboard though because v1.2 has a few presaved scores (71k and 33k) by someone called "Ronny"

Im using 030 as well, as it seems to be ok. Perhaps try the 1.2 slave with 030?

Yes this version has a high score, and I tried to clear it in a Hex editor but failed. So as I say in my first post on the Lemon thread, you'll have to get at least 33k to get on the high score table. I guess thats one mystery solved.

Cheers guys, yeh it only seems to effect v1.3 regardless of settings. It's only a minor issue but might fire off a bug report anyway, I know Stingray likes his installs to be faultless

Original gameplay and catchy music, it's a good game in my humble opinion.

Surely feels that way. Great times.

Welcome back Rexsu! Now that's a worthy first score for your return.
