Preparing HDD for Amiga using WinUAE?

Zetro made mention of this, but after searching I still can't find out how.

So, how do you format & partition a HDD for Amiga use on your PC using WinUAE?

I'd be really, really appreciative if somebody could explain to me (in simple terms I can understand) how to do this!

PZ.

I'd personally install SFS instead of the standard Amiga Fast File System.

I wrote a guide on it a while back which can be found here:

http://wiki.abime.net/amiga:killergo...winuae_realhdd

It should be pretty self explanatory but if you do need any more help let us know

How much do you know about HD setup?

I don't like to write instructions at the moment, but I might later create web page with all screen shots etc. on how to do this.

Also just to note that you can subscribe to any thread by selecting thread tools >> subscribe

Hey KG, that link helped

But, I ended up doing it on the real Amiga using the WB3.1 Install disk and then came unstuck after a certain point where I had the drive partitioned & it showed on screen as SDH0:NDOS and SDH1:NDOS.

Will following the last bit as quoted (slightly edited for real Amiga keyboard and this "S" thing) below work?

"We now need to format the drives, DO NOT do this by simply using the workbench format command.

Open a shell command window by pressing Right Amiga Key + E & in the command box type Work:SFSformat drive SDH0: name DriveName (replace drivename with the name you want the drive to be labelled)"........and so on?
