Thumbs up PSP vs GP2X/VIZ

Which one is the best way to emulate Amiga as mobile games device?

Hmm, from what I recall the GP2X version is better.

But if you are contemplating making a purchase, wait for the Wiz to come and see how its 533Mhz cpu will up the ante. I can but hope that the port will have Zip support though...

Wiz not Viz, my mistake and I am going to wait for it anyway. I am just curious which portable console is the best to emulate Amiga and games for Amiga platform. I would like to play some classice games during any travel

At the moment,

GP2x version is the fastest cause it uses an asm emulated cpu core.

PSPUAE is slower, but compatability is high and you can configure alot of settings. PSPUAE is just waiting for its asm core. Plus sound aint to great (Im still working on it).
I added a FAME/C cpu core to current version and released earlier this month, although it gives good speed increase the compability is low.

Ermmm, not really.

GP2x Version is a pure A500 Emulator (without many options, hdd or savestate support).

PSPUAE is ported from E-UAE (linux amiga emulator), its has alot of options (like WinUAE), you can configure it as A500, A600, A1200 (no AGA) but no HDD support as yet.

Main difference is speed, and thats only cause gp2x has an asm cpu core.

You mean somebody who ported UAE for GP2x rewrote it from C to ASM? Any chance to do this for PSP? How about graphics quality on both mobile devices?

GP2x is written from the ground up, so technically, you could call it a new branch of UAE emulation. Only the CPU is coding in asm.

We ported GP2x (non asm core) to PSP, but it ran no faster than PSPUAE. GP2x was then ported to PSP with the FAME/C core by someone else and released.

Thats 1 of the reasons I released a FAME/C version of PSPUAE, well that and people moaned that they wanted it. It just shows that even though GP2x is nice clean code, PSPUAE can run as fast (if not slightly faster) even with its messy code.

As I said the main thing about PSPUAE, is the options, you can zoom the screen, ric added auto zoom, that removes the borders from all games (it does have some side effects, but nothing major). In a nutshell PSPUAE is highly configurable and compatable (if using standard core).

To see what the different versions of PSPUAE are like, then check out http://uk.youtube.com/user/pspuae

That sentence makes no sense to me, either either it's a branch or it was written from the ground up, it can't be both I'm not trying to be pedantic or annoying either, the handheld branches are bloody confusing for someone not following their development closely.

Re-read the sentence, I said "so its technically a new branch of UAE emulation", meaning its re-written from the ground up with emulating only the A500 in mind using UAE code as reference.

I agree it is hard to keep track, but thats the way things work out.

uae4all for the gp2x is a port with some improvements (and an arm asm 68k core) of uae4all from the dreamcast. uae4all basically is an older version of UAE with much of the stuff removed that could slow it down or wouldnt be practical (speed wise) on a dreamcast or gp2x.
