bigger hard drive

ok having sorted out my floppy i now need to sort another problem out

having just got whdload (registering next week) i find the hard drive i got in is way to small (200meg) so i want to drop at least a 4gig in 10gig be better ... i got hold of a 4gig drive however when i format dh0 and install everything is fine, then i format dh1 and reset and i get the message "not a dos disk in dh0" and i have to start from the beginning ....

i am missing something here ? i'm making dh0 500meg and dh1 3.5gig ... i have ks 3.0 roms ... do i need some sort of patch or do i need 3.1 roms in order to use 4gig drives

The drive probably is a little bit bigger than 4gig and when you format beyond the 4gig border, it wraps around and overwrites the beginning of the drive.

When you install the drive, go to "change drive type", "define new" and enter these values:

Cylinders: 8322
Heads: 16
Sectors per Track: 63
Sectors per Cylinder: 1008

This will ensure that the drive capacity remains smaller than 4gig and you don't need to care about limits when creating partitions.
