Best prog to scan floppys?

I've searched for this subject in the forum, didn't find anything.

I would like to know what is the best program for scanning floppy disks.

I've tried DiskSalv already.

Anyone?

What do you mean by "scanning"? Scanning for errors? If so, I think DiskSalv is the best, but I also liked QuarterBack Tools.

Perhaps XCopy on verify mode?

There was a Windows program by one of the board members here that did ADF checking, not sure if it is finished though.

Unfortunately there is nothing to scan on a non-dos disk. Only the bootblock (and its author) knows how data is organised and how to detect errors. If you can copy it with X-Copy it might or might not be good. You have to play the game 'til the end to check if the disk is ok.

I think by non-DOS disks he meant disks using the AmigaDOS file format (which you can check with X-Copy), but not the Amiga filing system (come up "NDOS" under Workbench). Indeed, a disk not AmigaDOS file format could not be stored by an ADF anyway...

About playing to the end: I'd say that you can never really be sure that means the game is okay for most games. You need to know the format of the disk to know that (as you said).

Fortunately there are projects around that do do exactly that...

Either way, i was trying to rescue my remaining old games, but by now i have only one fully working floppy -> Operation Harrier.

fiath: U don't need that for CAPS do u?

Other than that, i was only trying to rescue some old work i've done more than 10 years ago...

Yep, i know that "Operation Harrier" was already on CAPS, but because u sometimes want different dumps and versions, i thought u might be interested. :P
