A lot of near misses and frustrating fails, and then all of a sudden this... which would have won the entire round in the league can't believe it!

Nice score cape
I probably won't be able to beat it, but I am certainly going to try. |

Improved, but only just a bit. Final seems to be very interesting, very good scores from both capehorn and chris Last edited by el_pasi; 13 December 2017 at 14:21. |

This is about as good as I can do. I'm sure higher scores are possible but I can't think of too much that went wrong during this attempt.

Thank you Chris for being such a great competitor.
I actually relied on your detailed post during the league round on Lemon where you explained about the flowers and letters. But my scores only started to get really big when I realised yesterday that you get bigger points from using the special weapons and turning the baddies into points tokens. To get the biggest possible score, you take the flowers, leave the baddies alive during the bonus round, and then blow up the baddies and take the points tokens too. But to do that all the way through you'd have to survive to the end on just three lives. So what I did was accumulate lives until level 30, and then ignore the extra letters and use the weapons to try to score as much as possible. I got the idea when I read this guide that said you get special weapons on every level after level 30. You also have several levels towards the end with those breeding baddies that you can milk off until they turn into clouds, so the points really add up. I'm still hopeless at the bosses thought. I lose lives on all of them every time! |

And that's the Knockout over for another year.
It hasn't been a vintage tournament this time round, however the final certainly was. A superbly competitive finish and played in a great spirit - tremendous scores from both finalists but congratulations to capehorn for his exceptional effort which means he retains his title from last year. ChrisN82 was arguably unfortunate in a lot of ways, but an excellent contribution all the same and he still walks away with the runner-up spot, which is no mean feat. The battle for third place also turned into an interesting battle, with el_pasi putting up a very respectable fight, but ultimately Joni secures the bronze medal for the second year running. Thanks to all for playing and for making it a fascinating final week to watch from the sidelines. Now it's back to League action... |
