I think the next consoles will use cheap VR as their new gimmick.

They'll have to come up with something special for myself as i started (home) gaming with the Sinclair ZX81 ans thus every console/computer i moved onto since offered a clear leap forward, but with PS4/XB1? i'm just not feeling it.
It just feels like pay more for less..... Ps4 still does'nt offer same degree of media abilities my PS3 does or so my mates tell me. I've bugger all use for PS+ to be brutally honest, i tend to stick with a game and play bugger all else (most recent examples on PS3 been Xcom, Demon's and Dark Souls series) BT warned me last month i'd reached 1st danger point on my 40G monthly B.B allowance, so if i moved to PS4 and downloaded a couple of 'day 1' patches, i'd end up having to pay BT for the unlimited package or be charged an extra £5 per 5 G i went over.... But there simply seem less exclusives i bloody want. I loved Uncharted/Killzone and Infamous on PS3, but kinda 'done' with them and PS4 incarnations just look...nicer. PS4 SOTB really does'nt look like they'd struggle to convert to PS3 or Vita, maybe run at lower res, lower frame rate, lose some cosmetics like lighting/particle effects etc, but it'd still be the same core gameplay, hell when they converted SOTB to the Sega Mastersystem, developers took op.to improve on games weakspots and improve the gameplay so downgrading hardware platform does'nt mean everything has to suffer, ditto Gun on PSP, it had extras not featured in other versions. I used to read Eurogamer an awful lot and the comments board would be full of things like 360/PS3 holding games back, Next gen needed now, well it arrived and has been here for a good while and i'll goto the foot of our stairs, if all i seem to hear about is yet another PS3/360 game 'remastered' for this current generation of hardware.Latest being Gears Of War etc. I was'nt that impressed by GTA5, nor The Last Of Us, so better looking versions mean nothing to me. I really enjoyed Bioshock Inf, but it's still way short of System Shock 2, which i played on PC running Windows XP. Alien Iso.was nice, flawed in terms of scripted A.I so nicer looking version would'nt fix that. I dunno, it just puzzles me how PS4 is selling so well as there's very little that stands out. Bloodborne, only thing that grabs me. If Sony were expecting SOTB to count as a flagship PS4 game whilst still stalling on what's happened with The Last Guardian (who's origins are firmly on PS3) then i really do worry where industry is headed. As for cheap Home VR, as a 'seasoned' gamer, i've seen this promised and abandoned before (yes, i was an Atari Jaguar owner :-), but before that the Sega MD Home VR etc). This time consoles etc have a degree of power needed to fuel it, headset tech has improved etc, but it's like Move/Kinect all over again, a concept tried before, rolled out again and unless lessons learned (cough, needs flagship games) it'll suffer same fate. News that TxK (Minter) rocked on VR headset, but now will never see light of day, is a killer blow to boot. Last edited by lost dragon; 11 May 2015 at 18:48. Reason: forgot to mention... |

According to this article it may be possible to see David Whittaker as the composer of the remake.

If they add in the the original Whittaker soundtrack, then i will be envious of every PS4 owner out there.
But it's still not enough for me to buy a PS4, i can only hope it get's ported to PC later on. |

Or maybe not? Because I also see plenty of classic 2D combat platforming goodness in there; dodging traps, wall jumping, combat with blocking and counters, huge bosses... its SOTB with Prince of Persia elements and that should make a good game. So don't know if the game is boring, or only the presentation of it so far :/ |

Anymore than £15 for this shit and it'll be a rip off.
It's a throwback game, that ignore all progress made in the last 20 years. It looks good, but it's definitely stuck in the 16bit era. |

I don't know. People might have said the same thing about Dark Souls if they saw video of it before they played it. It will all be about how well it is executed and how well it plays.

I said back on page 4 it would probably be a bog standard brawler to go with the many others on PS2 and PS3, and watching that E3 video, I don't feel wrong yet.

We just saw only a small part but it seems there is not enough variety in enemies. What makes amazing the original is the huge range of enemies. Some of them bland but most of them very creative. And the action was always fluid. It's a bit boring and distracting that this finish moves. Also I wish to see the giant hands protruding from earth.

Hard to tell what the finished article will be like; though the combat looks like it may get repetitive, at least from what I saw in the video.
A sprite based sequel would be sweet... Still I'm gonna get a ps4 sooner or later, Bloodborne and Rime look good to me. |
