Flashback Lv2

Ok, Flashback lv 2. I have included a screen shot

The deal is I have to get from the platform on the right to the higher platform on the left, but I always seem to just miss it. Am I missing something, I searched the only other rooms (both of them) and apart from a recharger there are not items, you also start the level with no helpful items.

I'm quite sure its a smiple jump, so any help would be, well, helpful

ok I guess you dont know the way to jump automatically? :-)

ok from the bottom left, to auto jump, try this... keep fire press, tap right, keep hold of fire, and the lil guy will jump automatically for you- this is precisely how to get to the ledge above :-D - except you jump from the other ledge

There's a special control combination in Flashback which aids jumping up onto higher platforms. If you start running (by pressing fire and left or right) and then centre the joystick (but keep the fire button held down) the character will automatically jump up onto platforms. Keep the fire button pressed throughout and then push up once you grab onto the platform.

I consider Flashback as much a platformer as I consider Prince of Persia, POP: Sands of Time and Turrican, OnEscapee and Another World...

:P

I remember encountering that one! I still have nightmares recalling all the giant platform leapsville with Flashback-& then having dejavu with Oddworld Abe's Oddysee-both games later levels are the ultimate patience-endurance tests!

Heheh ... ah that "problem"
That was meant to be the extra-gift for the super-fast cracking dudes that had managed to bypass the manual protection and thus considered the game "cracked."
Yes it WAS cracked, but unusable from the 2nd level onward without this special information, because you didn't have a cat in hell's chance of ESCAPING from that point.

Likewise, I can fondly remember both magazines and usenet groups taking the p*ss outta people that dared ask for this jump
(Since it's perfectly documented in the manual; so it was a very simple indication for the guy playing with a pir8 version )

Oddworld Abe's Odyssey is frustation in its most purest form.

Flashback is perfection. Abe's Odyssey is not fun.

I actually bought this game (fantastic game as well) and had a little trouble with the jump until I accidentally held down fire and did this..

Big grin

@Drake & Shatterhand.
Great to see some fellow traumatised victims,I mean players!
Now, What was worse, carefully time usage of your shield against certain fast sneaky alien scum towards the end of Flashback, or throwing rotten meat & bolting like hell to escape some of the local Oddysee wildlife whilst they were distracted?!

Every baddie in Flashback had a pattern that wasn't hard to learn and react to. Come on you sissy!

I still suffer recurring nightmares thanks to delphinearcadephobia-Operation Stealth was the most guilty spreader of this disease, though escaping reactor type meltdowns etc. in Flashback had similar vows of "let me get past this $%^%$ bit & I'll never play it again, honest!".

The reactor meltdown really wasn't that hard in Flashback, or at least I didn't think so. Completed it in 4 tries.

The problem was inserting the card. I had difficulty finding the exact position Conrad had to be when pressing enter. Other than that, it was quite simple, you only needed to memorize the obstacles you had to pass.

Abe's Odyssey is 10000 times harder than Flashback.

I finished Flashback in 4 days. Didn't get even CLOSE to finish Abe's Odyssey .

But I was unfair in the last post. It is a good game.

Now Flashback... I managed to finish the game on HARD mode on one sitting without using one single continue. Amazing, amazing game.

I only asked for some help and now look whats happened, a nice chat about the game has broken out. I think I'll go and get stuck on a few more games. Where exactly do you have to stand on the 'Reactor' mission, I can get down to the reactor with loads of time to spare, with the part as my selected item and with the words 'reactor pane' above me but he wont put the f***ing thing in.

I havent played it since that, well the final straw was when I called the lift to go down to the last part of the reactor and stepped on to it and fell through it because it was one pixel away from being in position
