Amiga PCMCIA Compact Flash / ATA

Hi guys,
sorry my n00bish, I cannot make a compact flash adapter work.

I own a vanilla A1200.
I bought a CF adapter on ebay.

I installed the drivers.

If I double click on Devs/DOSDrivers/CF0 it says "Device CF0: is already mounted"

But I cannot access the files inside the CF in any way.
If I use Filer (a file manager included with the drivers disk) trying to access CF0: results in a "Drive is empty, try again?" message.

What can I try to debug this?

Thank you in advance

It's your card. Did you format it properly? Is it FAT32 or FAT? Also try another card if formatting it either way doesn't work.

You have Fat95 installed in L: ?
Can you see the CF-Card on Workbench?

Make sure you have recent versions of Compactflash.device and FAT95, and that the CF0 file in dosdrivers is the one from the cfd archive, and not some random version that is floating around.

Type version compactflash.device and version l:fat95 to see which versions are installed.
If you don't have CFD v1.27 or higher, and FAT95 v3.18, download CFD and FAT95 from aminet.

I installed FAT95 v3.18 and compactflash.device v1.32 (from aminet)
Still I do not see the compact flash ad a drive

the card is formatted FAT32, I double checked it.

What else may I try?

Thank you

as I said try FAT instead of FAT32, and if that doesn't work try another card. Check the compatibility thread in EAB:

Fat32 works perfectly fine on the Amiga. Never had problems with formatted CF cards. Sounds like an incompatibility between the adapter and the CF card.

Do you still get the 'drive is empty' message?
If not, what does the cli/shell command 'info' say about cf0?

(Iirc you need to set an automount variable in the cf0 file for it to mount automatically, otherwise it will just mount when accessed)

Any formatting issues are easily sidestepped by quick formatting it on the Amiga.

It says:

Unit Size Used Free Full Errs Status Name
CF0: No disk present

Volumes available:
CF0 [Mounted]

I bought this adapter AND the CF from ebay and the seller said the card is ok. i am thinking the opposite now
