PC Competition Pro for GamePort !
Hey all !
I tought that the new USB version of the Competition Pro is the first one for the PC's... but it seems I was wrong. I just got a GamePort version on a fleamarket !!! It is very nice - Blue transparent glass (a bit more quality than normal CP transparent cases) with Yellow buttons ! It has 2 standard buttons (corresponding to Fire 1 / Fire 2 on the PC) and 2 additional as in CP Turbo or CP USB, but they have a different function - Autofire for Button 1 and 2 ! There is also a permanent autofire option with a yellow switch on the back which has 3 positions - Autofire 1 , Off , Autofire 2 Inside there is a little circuit that is visible just under the top glass and it has "PC-Stick" written on it. Works like a charm on my XP and Win98 Gameports. If I knew this existed all those years back I would of bought it 100% Oh and the feeling is BETTER than the USB stick since ALL the buttons/mechanics are the same as with normal Competition Pro Turbo ! (i.e. it has a spring on the stick - no rubber and the main buttons have a much better feel to it than the USB variant). If you want I can take some pictures this weekend... Best regards, Tomaz |

Wow, 50 Euros, eh ? I knew that 1 Euro was a bargain, but not such a bargain... not that I would sell it though.

Ok, here are some pictures (taken with a Clie palm camera, so the quality is not the greatest ;-) ). If you look really close in the second picture you can even see who took them :-)
Really nice joystick. Mechanically MUCH better than the new USB version... |

I have one myself, too
The Competition pro minis and comp PC minis were sold in solid boxes. Which you could use as diskboxes. And the Comp PC minis were 1994 expensive.69,00 DM /35 €. Last edited by NOB; 27 November 2007 at 08:50. |

I bought 2 USB versions off ebay for 24 quid brand new the pair... both my brother and I proceeded to beat the crap out them on SENSI 2006 off the PC.. some major retro fun..
I then hooked up Alien Breed and other than winuae overscan issue, it was like the orginal!!! it was a touching moment... then the real test Street Fighter 2! .... sheesh... there was more.... many more.... but after 5am it was time to call it.... |

The USB versions are on sale currently here... I payed around 4 EURos for each Only the Black/Red version though. The Blue one is sold out.
I am not really a fan of the new USB ones though since the buttons stick too much and the feeling is just not the same.... Also for some reason it seems there is a lag with WinUAE when playing games, its just a fraction of a second but I cannot play SuperFrog or Pinball Fantasies (with keyboard) on WinUAE. Can play it perfectly on the Real thing though. |
