Sidewinder coverdisk?

I might be going mad but I swear this game appeared as a full version on a coverdisk... Yet I can't really find any information at all as to what magazine or what coverdisk it was on..

Anyone remember?

Commodore User - SideWinder Demo (19xx)(EMAP Images)(UK)

Just found this! This was it! I remember now, it has a silkworm demo on the same disk!

I've also just noticed that it has different graphics to the original... hmm

Now does anyone know what issue it was on?

I swear it was supposed to be the full game but it looks as though it only has data for the first 4 levels and part of the 6th.. (no idea where 5 went to)

No idea if anyone else is interested..

This 'demo' came out after the actual game (I distinctly remember as our original copy had died from a virus previously and we were real happy to have this 'full' version again.)

As it came out after I find it weird that it has different graphics on the start area (and possibly further in I've not checked yet)

If you look at the attachments you can see what I mean.

Also worth noting is the apparent cheatmode on HOL, it says look on disk 2, whereas SideWinder is only 1 disk!

To continue boring myself with this...

My brother tells me that when we had the coverdisk it would always crash after level 4 (which makes sense as level 5 seems to be missing).

And the title screen is slightly different, one says CALIFORNIA (the one in HOL, whereas the demo says mastertronik software)

I see HOL doesn't have a full complement of Screenshots for the full game either... I'll see if I can sort that out later.

The game came on the Feb 1989 issue of CU Amiga-64.

I don't have that issue but have a scan of the contents page and found the info on there.

I can only guess you bought that issue and picked the C64 tape with Dominator demo and the full game Hyperactive, or picked the Amiga disk with Silkworm demo and full game Sidewinder on it. If anyone can confirm that would be great!

well done ct - i was scratching my head over this one.

Does anyone have this issue, and would they be prepared to scan the coverdisk pages and upload them to the Zone?
