To avoid wasting your time you might want to check the comments on pouet:

Bits 500
Bits 501
Bits 502

I wonder why SoLo2 didn't post the pouet links. This is my favourite Bits demo

Yes it is. They also release their "nice" demos on other platforms, the Atari scene loves them too f.e. :P

Everyone has to start somewhere. Keep the coding up!

Less elitism, more encouragement

While I fully agree you should know that these Bits dudes are around for quite some time already and there's no real improvement to be seen in their demos.

@SoLo2

Welcome to EAB!!!

Sorry that these guys are making fun of you - at least you are trying!!! My programming skills are dreadful and my imagination is piss poor as well....

@TCD/StingRay/Hewitson

Give the guy a break - its not nice to be ridiculed as soon as you join a forum!!! At least he is making an effort.... Not everybody is good at programming - I for example could not do any coding AT ALL in Asm, C or Java

You call producing things like displaying chars on screen an effort? Seriously, gimme a break! And considered that these guys are around for more than 3 years already and STILL come up with things like that, what do you expect?

Sure, not everyone is good at programming and there's nothing wrong with that. But releasing "demos" like these is just plain ridiculous IMHO.

Good one musashi

@Rabbit80
It's no problem if you are not good at coding stuff or just learning, but if you release stuff as finished to the public you should be prepared to get some feedback I make music with trackers and other programs for over 10 years now and have just uploaded 3 'songs' to the public. I finished about 100 songs and made way more that are still unfinished. Maybe you should learn first and then release. That's what we're talking about If they consider displaying all C64 characters on screen a demo I say they are probably doing something wrong

Maybe they shouldn't have been released as demo's - but I know that I cannot do the char grid in a program in under 512 bytes...

I'm pretty sure that you guys can though?
