Two floppy drives... standard PC disk in one, Amiga disk in the other... ADFRead util and voila.
It uses the technique developed by Vincent Joguin for Disk2FDI but works under windows thanks to Simon Owen's fdrawcmd Last edited by alexh; 19 January 2007 at 11:57. |

Two standard internal 1.44MB PC floppy disk drives connected to the PC motherboard via a regular floppy cable.
Nothing fancy. |

8-wire means that it almost certainly uses PC2Amiga. 8-wire cables are probably not compatible with Amiga Explorer, but dont quote me on that.
The photograph is not of an 8-wire PC2Amiga cable though Maybe there is another 8-wire cable. |

It's not a mine field... you just got to know your stuff and do your research.
Ask the seller if it works with Amiga Explorer. Ask the seller what software is included. Ask the seller why he lables it an 8-wire cable when it is obviously a serial cable (which has a maximum of 7-wires) from the photo. Last edited by alexh; 19 January 2007 at 21:05. |

Hello Mike! This cable is dedicated to Twin Express software, which works in DOS. I attach two diskettes, one for PC (bootable with DOS) and one for Amiga. It works with A500+, however it is very recommended to have at least 1,5MB of RAM. I know that there are many other programs, which works in XP and on unexpanded Amigas (ADF sender for example), however they are slow and I prefer Twin Express. This cable will also work with many others. Best regards, Jurek. |

It is a regular serial cable with this 8-wire stuff thrown in to confuse people.
It will work fine with Amiga Explorer. |

Was wondering what he ment by 8 wire thing myself.
ill get it sick of looking around for a suitable cable by the time i get a amiga serial port to 9 pin adaptor thats £3 and another 3 quid for a standard serial lead Going to get an A1200 anyway but would be cool if i could transfer adfs to 500+ without it i will be upgrading the memory in the A500+ when i see a good deal going anyway |

@Mike_UK
for me i had 1 workbench 3.0 with bad sectors.. i was very lucky that i could load the disk after a few retries while i got disk read error. and in easyadf software i rewrote wb3.0.adf back to empty dd disk (without bad sectors lol a fresh and working copy of workbench 3.0 disk) thanks to that i could do a hd-install of wb3.0 and easyadf. to avoid problems dont forget to get workbench 3.0 disks as well. (without bad sectors lol). if you dont get it supplied with your amiga 1200 then you can order the workbench 3.0 or 3.1 disks from amigakit.com as well oh and also don't forget to get a pc-cf cardreader as well (if you dont have one) CF-card (FAT/FAT95 Formatted) for floppy boot of the pcmcia easyadf software you only need the workbench 3.0 disk (easyadf uses a part of workbench 3.0 software in order to run).. without workbench 3.0 you can't run easyadf!! if you want to do a HD install of workbench 3.0 and easyadf you need all workbench 3.0 disks.. this includes the following disk 1 : Install Disk Version 3.0 disk 2 : Amiga® Workbench™ Version 3.0 disk 3 : Amiga® Extras Version 3.0 disk 4 : Locale Version 3.0 disk 5 : Amiga® Fonts Version 3.0 disk 6 : Storage Version 3.0 disk 7 : the easyadf disk from amigakit.com i have it hd-installed and that works so easy just boot amiga 1200 from hd to wb3.0 then run easyadf and off you go basically you can order this all at amigakit.com (amiga 1200 , workbench 3.0 or 3.1, pc - cardreader , easyadf pcmcia kit that includes pcmcia adapter and cf-card) Last edited by trackah123; 20 January 2007 at 06:44. |

Amiga to PC cable
Quote:
Using an old PC that could read 720K floppies and Coss Dos on the Amiga, I transferred the "explorer" file to my Amiga, it worked perfectly, but veeerrry slow. I eventually bought a PCMCIA CF reader and it works very well. Of course, the easiest way to transfer files if you have a CDrom on your Amiga is to collect as many Amiga programs as ADFs of LHAs as you can on a PC then burn them to CD. |

What I used to do is DMS half of the disk to a file in RAM: copy that file to a PC 720k floppy and then to the PC and then do the same with the other half. In Winuae I then extracted the files to a blank .adf! It was a messy way but it worked fine! Works the other way around too!
