Also, don't forget these important points when playing floppy based games:
Just got back into Amiga emulation about 3 months ago, and the amount of collections and stuff to download and sort lately was unreal, I then sorted all my different configs out for Winaue, got all systems running fine then your creation popped up ;-)
I'm really pleased to own this collection, its superb man!

2 embarrassing questions, so don't shoot me down please!

1) Where is the option in Winuae to turn Onscreen LEDs on & off?
2) Where is the options to turn scanlines on & off?

I've been through the Winuae settings a dozen times and cannot see any options?
I know it can be done manually by altering the config file with Notepad, but its the options in Winuae I want to find

Cheers

Since you're probably taking about these within in my collection

...not at home so no access to WinUAE, should be correct from memory:

1) Under the Miscellaneous section.
2) Under the Filter section, there's a a drop down under Extra Settings. Change to Scanline opacity and adjust from 50% or 25% --> 0%

Nothing to be embarrassed about. The scanlines set in this way are hard to find

...anyway, moved these posts from the Amiga questions you've always been too embarrassed to ask thread to here.

Set "Floppy Drive Emulation Speed" to "800%" (which works fine for 95% of games).
Toggle "Warp" mode on / off i.e. <End> + <Pause>.
Every time I see the above mentioned, I can't help but think of Jean luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation saying "Engage!"

I take it the Floppy Drive Emulation Speed" to "800% is to speed up loading time!

Try and see my friend

Hint; I only turn on to reduce loading times; then turn off again.

Press END and PAUSE on your keyboard. It's WinUAE's warp mode.
Press the keys again to go back to normal speed.

I would like access to the collection as well. Being new here, I am a little confused as to the prerequisites. Do i just sent a PM to DamienD? Am I even allowed to ask for those, being new here?

Yup, as you've done... you join EAB and hang around, which is the main point.

...plus make a few posts and then send me a PM. All good to me and the only thing I ever really ask

PM on route.

Wow, thanks!

I am downloading as we speak. I got a couple of questions and chose to post them here, instead of PM, just in case someone else might also have the same questions. Sorry if they have been posted before. I did read the whole 33 pages while I was at work last Friday, but memory is not what it used to be when I actually owned an Amiga

1. I installed you winuae (portable) in c:. I also have my previous, small collection and winuae setup in d: - What is the safest way to merge those too? just copy paste your winuae over mine? Will anything crucial be overwritten?

2. A general question, not directly related to your collection, but for instance I tried playing Super Cars 2. I remember playing it in my original Amiga and compared to the WinUAE version, control now seems... off. For instance one press of the turn button seems slow to register. And once it does, it makes the car turn harder than as I remember it doing on the original Amiga. Is this the so-called input lag? How can I mitigate the effect?

No problem

Wow, you've done your homework i.e. reading through 33 pages. Are you crazy?

...most of it's just fluff; the 1st and 2nd posts are the most important and updated to reflect key posts throughout the thread constantly.

Not going to comment on merging as not simple, but since you're using portable mode and in a totally different extraction directories to C:\WinUAE.

From what you've said, you will be good with my collection not interfering with your previous

A quick sidenote for anyone that extracts everything manually instead of using the installer (ie. nuts like me).

I didn't see any media (screenshots or title screens) until I did the following:
  • Go to the Paths tab and enable "Cache Boxart files"
  • Restart WinUAE

Last edited by AmigaBoy; 19 March 2018 at 19:57. Reason: Go to the Miscellaneous tab and enable "Resizeable GUI" is not needed

...or just double-click the WinUAE.reg file to apply all settings

Finished the download and I did check some games.
I am quite surprised but some games run better from ADF as opposed to their WHDLoad version, but that may be due to bad autoconfiguration from FS-Uae and openretro (yes, I use FS-uae for WHDload because it's easier).

For instance Final Battle is faster, has sound and I am also able to load the saves. In FS-UAE WHDload, the game is autoconfigured for A600 for some reason and as a result it is sluggish and has no sound. Also, I have no clue where the save file is located so I can't load it, but that is a WHDload quirk I guess).

Next step will be to remove the full resolution (alt-tabbing makes my monitor go bonkers and mess up desktop resolution).

DamienD, do you accept help from members in order to increase the number of supported games in your config collection? I mean can we sent you zips with adfs, configs, screenshots etc the way yours are set up, for games that are not already included?
