Network Games

With many of us having internet-connected amigas, would it not be great if there were any games you could play online?

I'm talking about an amiga client, that connects to a server. Probably something fast-paced might not be suitable, but some kind of RPG or strategy game would be great no? Most of the processing power for such a game would be on the server anyway.

Does something like this exist? or in development?

does FS-UAE's online play feature do that? also i recall programs such as hamachi let you play serial/lan games over the internet, no idea what people use nowadays for that kind of thing.

No, I'm not talking about tunneling P2P games. but an actual multiplayer game that communicates with a server. So far, new games are still a single-machine experience. Being able to play with many other amiga fans all over the world in a game would be something else. Hell, clients can be made available on Atari, ms-dos, etc.

something turn-based would work great for that.

I've actually built browser turn-based multiplayer games before, but am absolutely clueless about Amiga coding, and what is possible.

Build game ports, Duke 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior has a multiplayer mode, with server/client mode.

Funny, I also have an Atari 400 with a Fujinet and just saw some posts on Facebook about a multiplayer card game making the rounds using that and was wondering about an Amiga version to possibly participate... ;-)

The Uzebox has an optional wifi adapter but there is only one Uzebox game I'm aware of that currently has wifi support - Tank Fu.

We have been discussing options for adding (cross-platform) network play to the Uzebox and porting Fujinet seems like it could be our best bet.

https://uzebox.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11257

After linking up a C64 to a Uzebox for some 8 bit networking gaming via FujiNet, I'd be wanting a Fujinet adapter for my Amiga.

Here's some discssion about Fujinet for the ST/Falcon:

HBMonopoly and dynAMIte are the ones I've played most online... hours and hours back in the day

There was an extensive list of multiplayer linkup/online Amiga games somewhere, but I've forgotten where...

I'm working on an online multiplayer RTS game. It's not going to be as advanced graphically as Exodus or Napalm but my aim is to make it properly multiplayer over the internet.

It's super early in development. Here's a demo (it's rough ): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iBP...ew?usp=sharing

That sounds great.
Did you thought about creating a specific thread to report the progress ?

So far there's not much progress to report but it sounds like a good idea.
