Maximum joy from the stick..
Its a STAR-CURSOR "Professional Computer Joystick System" (..hey that could be my job title..) by Multicoin Amusements P/L, Model MCA201.
On the base it has a rotating switch that changes 4-Way to 8-Way, it works on both settings. I'm guessing it is just a joystick independant switching extension. Does the amiga support 8 switches (and two buttons btb), as far as I know there is no signal encoding on the joystick ports, is there? |

Four directions and two (or three) buttons.

AFAIK.. on those old aussie Star Cursor joysticks, the 4-way switch just disables the 4 diagonal directions.. so it should always be on 8-way

it has four microswitches(not including fire buttons), flicking the switch at the bottom rotates a round piece of plastic that makes it impossible for two microswitches to be activated at once.

Also desirable in games like Amidar / Quix, and platformers where you jump with a button. Take Super Mario Brothers, most of the time you want to keep the computer from recognizing anything but left or right. Diagonal moves consistently cause trouble in SMB on a NES emu with my PC joypad. |

you can add PC GAMEPORT analogue joystics if you dont mind a smidge of soldering
heres a pinout spec I did for Fingers whom wanted a KB/Mouse switcher. you can easly use them in conjunction with GAMEPORT specs |

The only gameport joy I have is a playstation clone d-pad, now that would be cool. But only three buttons will work lol
Is it possible to program the mouse/joy ports with some funky protocol? ie. Make extra buttons char to keyboard buffer? |
