waiting game.
Gahhh....I'm frustrated because I've got every part except for the CPLD's (well, and the '882's but those aren't important). There's just this big box of parts sitting here looking at me like

I think I'm about to throw the towel in on this and admit defeat before I throw any more money into this. I thought I could do the soldering but I just dont have the skill required to solder at this level.
I have wasted 3 boards and plenty of cpld's It seems some of the cpld's that I purchased were used items so without knowing if they really work or not just wastes time (and boards and components) lol Hopefully I can still get a working board by offering parts or cash to someone that is able to test and solder at this level. (something I will have to think about) I'm very frustrated with myself that I cannot do this, but I have to draw a line somewhere. |

I keep saying you absolutely need a microscope for this job. If you have that then the whole thing becomes straightforward. It's borderline impossible without even for a "professional" Also unsure why anyone would risk eBay for anything they can get from the main suppliers.. For the 030 you havent got much choice but for the Xilinx chips Digikey charges ~3 quid for them https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-de...1266-ND/406983 Last edited by plasmab; 01 April 2017 at 12:06. |

Also when I designed the board a lot of people asked why I didn't use a single bigger cpld... this is why.... so folk had a chance of soldering it. A tqfp144 would be much much harder

Although, my new scope also turned out to be a dud I used my old optical lens that I used to chip ps2's with. I could see "enough" but It's just beyond my ability, nothing else to blame |

I'm slowly accumulating bits, still got a week or two before the boards arrive, still waiting on the 030's to get here though.
