Any chance of a more step by step guide to how to get this working? I'd love to setup my old BBS again - I have the backups of the whole Amiga system at the closure date - it's the telnet bit I will struggle with.....

I'm on email if anyone prefers not to humiliate me in public with my lack of basic knowledge

I'm struggling with nightshift work myself at the moment, so my replies will be slow. Are you going to do your BBS in WinUAE?

You know, for the life of me I can't get WinUAE to behave, every time I set something up it ends up trashing my BBS partition.

haha it's doin' my head in. I think I'll just have to write it out here, what I think the answer is, and hopefully someone has a stable setup to make it work. I'll write some stuff down tomorrow. That is, unless I can convince you all to buy a new A1200, PCMCIA card, network the whole thing - just for me? Didn't think so.

Edit: Okay, since my WinUAE is acting up, this is all guesswork. I don't know how AmiTCP will interact with the WinUAE bsdsocket emulation:

Download and install this:

http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/pub/amin...TCP-bin-22.lha

You'll have to create a new drawer for it, or the install procedure will dump everything in your Sys: directory. During install you can probably skip installing drivers and entering real IP's/hostnames etc. Don't have AmiTCP run on Workbench startup.

If that went without problem, download and follow the included instructions:

http://www.aqvx97.dsl.pipex.com/amitcp.zip

You'll need to create a new modem for node0, call it anything you want, using the following tooltypes:

MODEM.INIT=ATM0S0=0 (those are zero's)
MODEM.RESET=ATZ
MODEM.ANSWER=ATA
MODEM.RING=RING
MODEM.OFFHOOK=ATH1M0

Default modem settings should be okay for Fame/System-X.

If you don't have luck with that, you'll have to tell me what went wrong and we'll try and figure it out.

Winuae BDSocket won't work I guess, because you need to assign a 'real existing' serial/telnet driver and this ones is built-in..
And don't forget to put TELNETD in the node(x).info ..

Ive got another problem, how do you change the HD sizes ??? /X always says that there's less or no more space available to upload, even if there's more as 20 gig free space available? Where do I change this, or is this not fixable because of the current HD standards?

Check that your conference icons point to the correct upload directory, then check an icon called DRIVES, the tooltype(s) in there tell /X which hd(s) to use, if it's wrong you'll get that message.

Did anyone ever get /X or SX or something running? On Amiga or WinUAE? I have my BBS backup from 12 years back but it seems my friend who did it used a PC and it didnt set the Pure bits and Script bits and stuff like that. Hence it does not want to run. If I could have a look at someone else's Amiga setup I could have a historically accurate BBS back up.

After that I might see if I can get it working via Telnet or something. Might be fun to open an Amiga BBS again.

Got yet another "new" harddrive yesterday, so my Amiga will be back up and running again. As I said in private, Methanoid - I'll give you a link in the next few days to an archive of my /X 4.12 once I've been through the current BBS setup to remove personal user passwords/messages. That's if you still want it. I'm questioning whether to bother continuing with AmiExpress since that upload problem never went away and it's really bugging. Right now I don't know what else to try out, short of DaydreamNT which seems to be net ready, but the beta release is pretty old.

Yeah, I'll begin on it later on and let you know how it goes.

Edit: Can't even get it to start - keeps saying it can't load a library, even though the lib exists, the assigns are all made. Plus if you look on the DDNT website and try and click the bugreport links, they link to c:\\mydocuments or something
