Floppy drive repairing, could use some help

Alright! So I have an A500 here with faulty floppydrive, and I am trying to repair it mainly just for fun and to learn.

In these drives there is 2 buttons that sense when there is floppy inserted and if it is write protected. That button was obliterated.
I removed it and rewired the pads to an switch that I can operate manually.

But there is still weird symptoms on this..

Sense disc switch OFF, No floppy in drive:
Turn power on to the amiga, at the moment the 'boot screen' appears, the drive starts clicking(2 times / second) (head moves a bit forward and back), and the 'boot screen' reset with same cycle (full white -> disk+hand -> full white -> ..)

Sense disc switch ON, No floppy in drive:
Turn power on to the amiga, it seems to start up just normally..
But it wont be doing the normal click.. click.. and it wont start to read disc if inserted. Switching sense disc on/off wont have any effect.

Sense disc switch ON, floppy inserted:
Turn power on to the amiga, and it boots the floppy normally..
So in my opinion it seems to only try to start to read the disc like once when turning power on? As there is no other way to boot the discs, it needs to be in the drive ready-to-go before booting.

1 ground pin on the motherboard is broken, but they are all connected together anyways yes?

update: oookey.. I seem to be able to reproduce that weird 'boot screen' reset thing with Gotek.. So its not the floppydrive itself then which has problems I guess =)

Any ideas whats wrong or how to start diagnosing ?
