I'm thinking that I was right and you've listened to tracks on the PC for too long The Amiga was 4-channel. Two channels unique to left, two unique to right. With wide stereo & join stereo both OFF you get faithful representation of the real Amiga. If you are listening using headphones though this will sound strange with the channels separated (but just as strange as it would if you were listening to the real Amiga using headphones!) Wide Stereo is a post-processing feature. I believe it mixes left and right together with delays intended to simulate the distance between wide speakers? Not sure it is 100% faithful to the Amiga sound but I like it though. Quote:
Very strange. Play any chip tune and switch between "Scaled" and "Interpolated Quad" and if you cannot hear a change, a filtering, then your audio equipment (soundcard, amplifier, speakers, ears ) must be so poor the difference is lost. Endtune?? Do you mean hiscore or game_end? http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Battl..._Barrax_Empire! Quote:
You know what you like though. I don't think it really matters if it is faithful or not? Last edited by alexh; 10 September 2010 at 13:22. |

If you like this track then you have to listen to the MP3 Remix by Blazer

Well I actually paid Florian the full price for my Deliplayer. I'm just sad they canned it.

In my computer for stereo in Deliplayer to work I have to run it under Windows XP compatibility mode. I have Vista x64 & an old SB Audigy2.

Did you do the comparison btw? Quote:
If this doesn't work hopefully bLAZER will further develop his player and get more exotics to play. Any chance there? For now, I am pretty content with WinAmp oldsk00l plug-in. Not in the least case because that is my main player anyway. |

Awe, I liked it.
Nope. Just an initial non scientific by ear test. Windows XP SP3, 32-bit Sound Blaster Live PCI card. Deliplayer 2.50b (Stereo join @ 50%, oversampled, click filtering off, equaliser off) WinAMP 5.58 SurfSmurf Oldskool plugin 0.88 (Stereo join @ 50%, emulated Amiga Filter) I felt that playing cust.hiscore there was a slight perceptible difference starting at time 1.42 in the handling of volumes on the main instrument. Slight, but noticable. Need to record them, compare. Check against a real Amiga. Perhaps try the non-cust versions in Deliplayer with the right ron klaren driver. |

Thanks for feedback alexh.
Well, I went back to XP and and didn't hesitate to install Deliplayer1.3 again. Plays everything beautifully out of the box and is here to stay. It's 9am saturday morning, amiga music is playing so freak is ON http://i56.tinypic.com/qoakpg.jpg Last edited by moriez; 02 October 2010 at 09:14. Reason: pic |

Deliplayer doesn't work in Windows7, although I'm not sure why anyone would want it. The UI is so horribly unusable, you'd be better off just running WinUAE with a player loaded in there.

Not sure but I have to say that it seems to sound better. There still is the typical Amiga seperation like you said: 2 channels left 2 channels right but somehow less annoying. I don't know if I am imagining things. Hopefully bLAZER will update his player to play all the formats DP does. (Hint hint!)
I am 99% sure that DP1.3 does work in Windows 7 btw. |

Anything apart from UADE absolutely sucks. Deliplayer is an ugly buggy piece of shit.

Haha, it definitely looks dodgy compared to what it could be. Actually I am starting to catch up on things and started using XMPlay for all music played. It does ASIO and it definitely sounds a lot different from DeliPlayer. A more laidback and realistic sound for Amiga tunes.
