Well, how large is your hardfile? (My bandwidth is rather limited unfortunately.)

OK, got it, thanks, I will take a look. Cloanto stuff may be problematic, you might have better results with an official Kickstart 3.1 image.

It is working fine for GIFs. However I have found that PNGs are not working with a 68040 CPU.

>btw. what does this (*) mean at uae zorro III?

I don't know, it is not mentioned in the docs.

PNG datatype from Gunther Nikl:

Note: All versions compiled for >= 68020 do *require* a FPU!

Use the 68000 version if you don't have an FPU.

@honx: The reason the PNG.datatype isn't working is that 68040.library is missing from your LIBS:

It is normally copied there during the original OS3.9 installation (maybe at that time you were using a 68020 configuration?), and it is not touched by BB3&4.

where do i find the official kickstarts if i can't rip/transfer them myself? legally i only own the ones from cloanto...
these are the only ones which are able to purchase and emulation-ready (not hardware), as far as i know.

where on os3.9cd can i find 040.library? can't find it in OS-Version3.9/Workbench3.9/Libs
or in OS-Version3.9/Workbench3.5/Libs. also in First-Install/Libs i'm not able to find this lib.

and does this same proplem i have with the png datatype also count for the gif datatype?

//edit: nevermind, i found it in OS-Version3.9/Extras/Libs and copied it over.
now i'm able to open .png and .gif; at least these two files i tested so far...

thx!

i still don't know any alternative for getting official kickstart images without possibility of getting them from original hardware.
i only have the ones available i purchased (bundled) with amiga forever. unfortunately i have no other rom images at hand.

Well, they are not hard to find online via search engines, I would give a link but the mods here would not like that.

i see, there is a new version 1.29 of boing bag 3&4 available (http://amigan.1emu.net/releases/#others).
what has changed since 1.25? can i just install it over without breaking anything existing (datatypes, libs, etc.)?
since 1.25 many additional things installed: aiss, mui royale, codeset, xadmaster, many workbench enhancements.
is there any option to just update boing bag? in other words, is it possible to just install the new/changed things?

I've just tried a couple of updates it includes - and that I didn't know- and they work great.

Many thanks for the update

no changes in Startup-sequence or user-startup since 1.25? and how can i change language (title) of tools menu entries?
if i try to overwrite an entry in the list and click save button, it doesn't save, after reopening THE prefs there's english again.
for example "Close All Drawers" to "Alle Schubladen schließen" has turned "Close All Drawers" again after reopening THE prefs.
and what exactly do "snapshot deficons" and "forget open drawers" do? and how exactly does this "select pattern" work?

>no changes in Startup-sequence

Only for IDEFix users.

>or user-startup since 1.25?

Only for those who have AWeb and/or Genesis installed to non-default locations.

Nothing has changed with THE recently. I will look into your issues.

well, i don't think, i have something internet related installed non default.
aweb is located in internet folder on sys:. i think genesis should be there alike.
i didn't install aweb or genesis myself. so their locations have to be default.
both came either with os3.9 installation or one of the boing bags i assume.

The Files4/S/Startup-sequence.IDEFix file was missing, therefore the old startup-sequence was not being replaced on IDEFix-enabled systems when the full package (ie. core+contributions) was installed and automatic S-S updating was chosen.

Normally Prefs/THE is used to edit these. However, there seem to be some problems currently with this, which I will address for the next version. In the meantime the WBStartup/THE file can be edited directly with a text editor to make any desired changes.

The "snapshot deficons" feature appears to rely on a missing file; that will likewise be fixed for V1.3. It's purpose is "In association with DefIcons this script will save all selected default-Icons displayed with DefIcon on the selected position."

"Forget open drawers" is just the reverse of "Remember open drawers".

"Select pattern" asks for a pattern, and then selects any files in the currently active drawer that match that pattern.
