Voodoo 5 Warp3D Support
I'm getting a mediator in the near future, currently trying to decide which video card to look out for. What is the current status of Voodoo 5 under Warp3D? Have the problems that existed been ironed out or is a Voodoo 3 still a better option?
Thanks |

Voodoo5 is not officially supported by Warp3D. Elbox uses some tricks that the driver uses the Voodoo3 compatibility mode.

Does this work well? And is Voodoo 5 Warp3D support planned?
I'd really like the V5 as it'll give me an extra 16mb of ram over the V3. |

in other words the amiga is dead.....and the amiga is alive only on the retro-scene so don't expect support for new cards ....don't dream with new 3d games realesed for the amiga get a voodoo3 or another gfx card supported by mediator drivers but if you like headaches..crashes and malfunction ...get a voodoo5 |

Firstly, the Mediator drivers support the Voodoo 5.
Secondly, if the Amiga is so dead, why has a new OS recently been released and why is hardware and software still being produced? |

I believe it was developed by Hyperion, it has not been updated for a few years as far as I know.

I use a voodoo3. I run a 1280x1024 WB, have played all the warp3d games and have never run out of gfx memory.

When using PPC W3D stuff you're limited to 8mb gfx mem, and with 1024x768 + backdrop yoyr gfx mem isn't enough for W3D apps if you're using a backdrop + 1024+768 or higher |

8mb is more then enough for 1680x1050x32 and w3dgame at 800x600(Generaly 640x480 though for speed) I have a voodoo3 and voodoo5 on mediator and Permedia2 via BVision. voodoo5 is about 2-3 frames faster in glquake, but the voodoo5 cant use some 3d mode (forget the terms at this moment) so some w3d stuff doesnt work on it like wipeout2097. with voodoo3 is fine and is the best supported Warp3D card.

Limited to 8mb? Why is that?
