Try these two
http://main.aminet.net/hard/hack/atx_psu.lha http://main.aminet.net/hard/hack/psu.lha Try and find an A500 power supply first if you're having power troubles with your A1200 and looking for a silent PSU |

I'd still go with the A500 supply just for the silence of it lol. It's the main reason why I'm fixing up my Amiga - I'm trying upgrade it as much as possible without using components that require fans, or require me to put the machine in a tower.

heh, yea fans don't bother me, I have a p4 3.2 rig with a tornado fan so i'm used to it.. I'd rather the system be cooler so it lives longer

And seeing that you are planning on installing the A1200 in a tower anyway, then using a A500 PSU wouldn't make much sense anyway, might even be blowing the motherboard if the motherboard is being powered through the tower PSU at the same time.
About powering the A1200 from a modern PSU... Just plug in a floppy power connector to the floppy power port of the motherboard. Power on the PSU and your motherboard is up and running. The best way to do it would be to use the above mentioned method as well as rewirering the power tail from your old Amiga PSU to the tower PSU. Information on how to do so can be found on Aminet in the hack named ExtraPower.lha. It's pretty simple, take 4 wires from your Amiga PSU tail and connect them to 4 wires on the tower PSU; anybody can do so. About the noise from fans, etc. It all depends on what fans used and how loud other devices are. I have my Amiga 4000 with CSPPC running here, and I can't hear it. The sound of the rain outside is louder... |

I have one in a custom made tower (done by myself) as well as a desktop. See http://web.sonofon.dk/allan-muller/computers.html for more info on the machines.
The ExtraPower archive is meant for A500/&00/1200, and TechX were asking about an A1200. The A4000 PSU arrangement is a bit different, you would need a different way of handling the problem. Just out of curiosuty; why do you ask? |

Take a look at this site
http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/am..._supplies.html I use an ATX PSU with my A1200/BPPC/Mediator setup; still haven't found the right power button for it though, but that is because I'm too lazy. Just plug the PS-ON wire together with a GND wire and the PSU will start up. Then you can use the switch on the back for power on/off. |

@lopos2000
Sorry, but I'm afraid you are on a dead end. The best you could do would be to find an AT PSU that fits in the desktop, and rewire its button to the PSU case itself. The ATX PSUs use a different way to power up than AT, which the A4000D has as standard. |
