Just another Idea: since the unit have a 53C80 SCSI controller, can I toss the proven-to-work A4000/1200/600 SCSI+ driver (no auto-boot, of course) to FORCE the recognition of the drive?

what do you mean ? A4000/1200/600 don't have a SCSI interface, it's IDE.

Not by standard. I mean the Dataflyer SCSI+

I would guess they handle the hardware differently, but probably there's no harm in trying ?

The SCSI+ is a SCSI controller plugged in the IDE controller of 600/1200/4000(T).
I simply don't know if it depends on Gayle's signals or not. If the answer is not, it's a chance that will work with a boot diskette. |

Like that is going to work... not!
A driver which sends commands to the gayle to be output via the IDE interface is not going to work with a Zorro II DMA/PIO mapped controller. |

Little update: using an A3k WB Install disk and 37300 ROM I can make the Amiga to recognize the controller (I think).
Problem remaining: even mounting the device (via "version ADD_SCSI.device") the HDToolBox freezes when starting to poll the SCSI. Even with nothing attached to the controller(!)... Last edited by rkauer; 28 July 2008 at 01:18. |

Update: I use the Trumpcard disk and it "almost" works (I was able to check the SCSI chain)... :-/
Remove everything and toss HD+cable+adaptor on mine AHA2940 (PC controller) for testing purposes... Guess what? Yeah, bad cable! Now I need to buy another cable (who will come with another HD - smaller). Expect no new updates 'till middle of week. Sigh... |

Now I have a reason to laugh, at least. I know the controller is working. Maybe the controller's SCSI chip not, but I could test it only after grab a SCSI device for it. I have a SCSI scanner, but the controller don't have a 25pin connector for further expansion. Only the "holes" on the board. Time for turn my iron on and keep the dremmel over the desk, alongside with a DB25 connector. |
