A1200 PSU suitable for A500 and A500 Plus

I'm currently swapping between a A500, A500 Plus and A1200 and switch power packs each time as they all seem to be slightly different.

Could I just use the A1200 power pack on all of them and stop switching the PSU each time?

I think I can but want to confirm before I end up smelling burning PCB.

They are all the same.
Look underneath the PSU At the specs and keep the one that is beefier. Usually A500 PSUs are beefier (4.5A on 5V line)

They are interchangeable. i have used A1200 PSUs on A500 and A500+ with no issues. I owuld recommend using the A500 PSU though as they are more reliable than the lightweight A1200 version.

That's good to know and will make life easier.

Vypr would you still recommend a A500 PSU with a ACA 1233n/40MHz?

The puniest PSU is 2.5 A @5V afaik - I'd avoid it as it is good just for extra mem + one floppy drive (was written somewnere).

2.5A is plenty for an A1200 and an '030, provided the PSU is in good working order. It can be the case however with any PSU that the capacitors have aged to a point where it can no longer regulate the output effectively. If it were possible, I would recommend getting all your PSUs checked out for stability and potentially recapped, and then using the one which shows the best regulation / lowest ripple under load. Without that possibility, I would go with what the others have said and choose the one with the highest output.

My 1233n is in a tower case at the moment but I never had a problem with it in the standard case.

My standard Miggy is currently running off a 500 PSU with an Mtec 1230/28 accelerator and an IDE HD and I haven't had any power issues with it
