Using an LCD/TFT display with an OCS/ECS/AGA Amiga
You know me, so you know I love CRTs. But as I used a TFT for my A600 portable project, I thought I'd start a compatibility list, like the one for CF cards. To guide us through the jungle...
If you have a working solution, please describe it like I do here: Name: Joytech 8.2" PS2 Slim Price: ~£80 Seller: gameseek.co.uk Inputs: Stereo sound, RGB, probably more on the d-sub, no pinout found. Power: 8.5VDC, 50x60x20mm regulator. Video resolution: 50 Hz PAL, (320x250px visible), 60 Hz NTSC. Extras: Stereo speakers, earphone jack, IR remote, carjack VERDICT: 8/10 Small but sharp and quick gaming TFT, very happy. Character edges have overcontrast, but I got a hack from ZrX-Oms in #c-64 which I'll test and write up. Still, very good and hires is no problem. No interlace artifact when scrolling, but update speed is as good as can be expected from a TFT. Scaling blur is unnoticable. Has brightness/contrast/volume controls, but for some reason Saturation control and some other is disabled, maybe only used with composite signal. Pros: + small but sharp + comes with a firm hinge + good picture + decent update speed for gaming Cons: - no base for standing on a desktop - gets warm after some hours of use, no real problem tho. - weird fucking voltage SELLER VERDICT: Excellent, quick dispatch from uk to sweden, and seem like they've been around and will be around. They even asked me on the phone if I wanted the white or the black casing |

Fujilink A1901 TV (regular 4:3) & A1901W (wide screen).
Price: ~120USD without taxes each Seller: hard to spot, most stores in Paraguay Inputs: VGA, composite, stereo jack audio, S-VHS, antenna Power: 12V (5A) = 60W power consumption Video: from 320x200 up to 1280x1024 or wide screen non-interlaced. Extras: built-in stereo speakers, stereo jack audio out, IR remote, external 12V "brick" with auto-voltage (80~240V) Verdict: 9/10 Huge and reliable. Wide screen unit make scaling artefacts on PAL resolutions. No support for Doubled modes. PAL and NTSC "low res" modes go directly trough VGA in. Contra: not much easy to move around, hard to find now. |
