Sonnet 7200 PCI programming

So I tried a Voodoo Banshee which it came back with an alert state “no support VGA card available” when activating the PPC

Will you be adding support for the Voodoo Banshee?

I could do that. It is not in the planning for a long while, though, as my limited time is spend on making the library future-proof. Which is a bigger task than I anticipated. I started in the end of September and I thought i would be finished by March. But my best guesstimate would now be ....September.

You can look at the git for progress.

Hi Hedeon, thanks for all your efforts. Are you planning AA3000+ / Firestorm support or does that depend on further developments of the prometheus.library version 3.1? (I noticed you are in the queue to get an AA3000+ like me).

Yes me too. It's a race what will work first in the AA3000+. A PCI PPC card or the ZZ9000. Ideal for me would be ZZ9000 in A4000 and PPC + Voodoo in AA3000+ since it already has built in flickerfixer and ratte switch.

I wouldn't bet on me to win that race. There is this bug i cannot seem to fix. Works fine in the assembly version. I am leaving it on the shelf a bit, maybe I get some inspiration soon.

I tried view some PDFs (Amiga User) on my Amiga with Sonnet (Ragnarok).
Old APDF for PowerUp (emu in WOS) works fine on Sonnet, but It can't read text correct and don't show fonts correct in new version of PDFs

On Aminet is new RNOPDF, it show correct new PDFs (version for 68k- very slow).
Version for WOS of RNOPDF make errors/Exception WOS on my Ragnarok
Can anybody do test this RNOPDF for WOS on Ragnarok/Sonnet?

It will be slow for WOS too. Hollywood WOS apps seem to rely a lot on 68K context switches.

Can you show what error is given?

Anyone have luck with NeoMame? I got it close to working on my A1200, stutters and then crashes. (full lockup)

Wondering if you A4k'ers had it working?

BTW I tested the Quake 1 Mission packs off Steam with QuakeWOS and was able to play for >1hr without issues

Neomame from Amidog? That did run on A4000 with Sonnet and Rapture pretty well with SpeedHack or DisL2Flush=1. It ran somewhat ok on Ragnarok but not great where those hacks were not available. which is why I run them on Retroarch instead

Yep that's the one 0.37 B2

I wasn't expecting miracles anyway and yeah I have Neo Geo on my Arcade setup and even a proper MVS Motherboard and SuperGun

I don't recall all the details of Hedeon's spellcrafting when he got it running well on Sonnet/Rapture, but it doesn't use AHI which I thought is a big no-no on the A1200. I think it also requires 16-bit BE Modes, which was the other other reason I decided to build up Retroarch for WOS with MAME2003.
Also 0.37 B2 didn't support some of the games I wanted to play like Xmen Vs Capcom and SF3 Alpha.
WES is an option too but that was even more hacky than Amidog's version but supported a somewhat newer game set.
Final Burn Alpha is almost working though so that might be an option someday.

Yes, RNOPDF is very slow, but strange, that when I checked idle of WOS/PPC system I have 0%
But idle of 68k system is 100%
In real it works only on 68k maybe problem is codesets.library version for 68k (I didn't find version for WOS)

It's too buggy for release, the few people I sent it to after their uncontrollable vomiting ceased, said that it mainly didn't work for them. In fact it could be the cause of the covid.
