Question Death Trap - 2 player mode

Hi,

I'm trying to understand how the 2 player mode works in Death Trap. HOL says it's 2 player simutaneous and the 'menu' screen shows the controls for both players, but when I start the game with the cursor on 'Player 2' the other control option (joystick 1 here) doesn't do anything during the game neither does it work after player 1 died for a second player. This is when using the IPF version. I can't seem to find any documentation (manual/instructions) either, so any hints would be really appreciated

One spell lets you Summon Friend, which in fact conjures up a rather fab Professor Yaffle woodpecker thing that flies around shooting baddies and collecting magic for you. In two player mode, the second player takes control of the 'friend', making your life easier and somewhat longer!
