@jotd. Finally got around to trying your upload of Cadaver today and it seem to just be saves for The Payoff. There doesn't seem to be any saves for the original Cadaver?

I just checked: the archive I zoned contains cadaver+payoff. Starting without custom1 starts original game (data disk is disk.2 not disk.3). Loading position 4 (by pressing '4') warps you to level 4.
The savegames are suffixed ".o" for original and ".p" for payoff. I have also checked savegames 3 and 5, and they also work. Can you check again? |

Sorry Jotd, you were right. I'm not very familiar with WHDload and I didn't know how to stop it loading the Payoff. After googling custom1 and what I needed to do, I managed to get it to work and I've successfully loaded level 4!
Thank again for your help ![]() |

I have to update this slave to whdload 17 so you can start payoff or cadaver from the spash screen.

The Last Supper is a different whdload slave, already supported for years: http://www.whdload.de/games/CadaverLevels.html

Does anyone know what the differences are between using the map (F1) and using a map spell?
The regular map (F1) that is always available seems to show everywhere you have been, whereas the map spell seems so omit certain rooms, even if you've already visited them. Is it a way of the game telling you that there are still things to be completed in those rooms? |

maybe map spell has a "range"? I never asked myself that. I don't think the game keeps track of "things completed in rooms". There are various states of various objects, which give you tokens to be able to open doors, etc... probably not smart enough to decide that you're done with a room.
Kroah reverse engineering just revealed some script language to code objects in rooms. |

I don't think it's related to range as when I activate a map spell inside certain rooms, it won't show them as 'visited'.
For example the attached screenshot. I am activating the map spell in a room that isn't showing up in the map. The game manual state that: "If you can find it, there is a more comprehensive way of mapping the levels later in the game." I am assuming it is talking about the map spell, but can't see to figure out what is its advantage. |

Inspired by this thread I was playing it again, but it's such a quirky game. I fight a lot with the user interface and the context-sensitive nature of the game. There are so many interactable objects lying around I find it hard to jump half of the time :/

Controls (or absence of them) is what really pushed me to abandon every time I tried to play it, and I gave it many tries. Sometimes I wonder if I was doing something wrong or if I was somehow missing how to play and enjoy this game. I might give it a go, since it is one of games I installed on Amilator. ![]() |

The controls have never been an issue for me. I know there are options to modify them in a couple of ways. Maybe you could look into that?

Wait what? You can use two buttons in this game? Now that would improve the game 100%...
