Help!
When I try to load Golden Axe, my favourite game, I must play always with 2 players, why?

try swapping ports, maybe golden axe requires player 1 to be in port 0.
Game & IO tab > Swap Ports button. EDIT: Oh and why not play the Arcade version instead? (or even the MD version) the Amiga one is poor! |

Well the Amiga version is an arcade conversion!
And as for a LOT of the amiga arcade conversions, it's not very good compared to the original |

You should try the sequel i.e. Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder Quote:
There are a few rare exceptions where the Amiga conversion was pretty good IMHO. For example Pang, Shadow Dancer, Sly Spy: Secret Agent, Snow Brothers and Toki... |

The amiga version wasn't that bad.
Especially since you can "cheat" by hitting the button fast and at the same time the directional pad toward your enemy and score more then 3hits in a row =) |

It's probably because you downloaded a clone rom for Golden Axe and not the parent...
I don't want to add arcade stuff into this thread again, I'll sent you a PM with some hints for MAME |

Amiga arcade conversions were much better then arcade coversions for rest of computer scene of late 80's and early 90's.
Just to name couple of good conversions: R-Type, Pang!, MK, SF2... But it is true that most of those arcade games better play on mame/or other arcade emulator. BTW, you guys should try 'Dungeons and Dragons: the Tower of Doom' and 'Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara'. Two great arcade games. |

You didn't like it? Well it was fun for me and my cousin and not that bad compared to original.
Not having 8 buttons made difference, but at that time I dared not to question why amiga had only two buttons, and most of games supported only one. @ DamienD - For some reason I preffer Final Fight. Have it on GBA too. |

I thought it was awful. Especially compared to the far superior MD/SNES variants! The amiga and beat-em-ups are not comfortable bed-fellows.

Vendetta has wicked concepts though not found in any other beat 'em up i.e. being able to kick enemies when on the ground plus a few other neat things. Unfortunately I have to agree with Killergorilla about the SF2... The Amiga version sucks bigtime, I was very disappointed when I got this |

It is interesting that firstly SF was Nintendo only game. Only later, turbo version was released on Megadrive. (I still got it )
I'm not sure why you guys were so dissapointed. We hade arcade close to the place I lived in, and it wasn't that far from my Amiga version. (A500+ at the time) Same was with other game they had, Pang! @DamienD, I'll give it a try. Lately I play more NeoGeo games (Using NeoRageX) then original Mame arcade. |
