No normally the execution of the Startup-sequence is not interrupted, then it depends on how much images you use or the type of Booting Picture Program used, an old example video of mine, I take this opportunity to give everyone a Merry Christmas (Buon Natale)

Of course it does, reading image from disk file steals i/o time and depending on format, decoding steals cpu time.
