Hi,
I'm updating my Amiga power supplies guide, http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/am..._supplies.html and I would like to add some information on the original Amiga power supplies. This is the information I have so far, any additions or corrections appreciated. am I correct in listing only the A1000, A2000 and A3000 as requiring a 'Tick' circuit? Hi Stedy, all I can confirm is that the A1500/A2000 does require the TICK, but you can change the jumper on the motherboard to correct this.
Many new type ATX PSU's do not incorporate a -5V supply that is required for A1500/A2000. As you suggest a 7905 regulator connected to the -12V supply & Ground will give the required -5V. I have installed a new 500W ATX PSU into the old PSU case on my A1500 and used the original Amiga wiring, so that it all looks original. I can post some pictures if anyone is interested? |

@Jagcats,
Thanks for confirming the information on the tick signal. Have added that to the Amiga PSU guide update, which will be published shortly. Please publish any power supply modifications, if they are safely done, they inspire others. @roy bates Sorry to break it to you but your A500 PSU is only 34.7W. It the label states 60W, that's the total power consumption, 60W in, 34.7W out @ 58% efficiency, when at full load. +5V @ 4.3 Amp = 21.5W +12V @ 1 Amp = 12W -12 @ 1 Amp = 1.2W Total 34.7W Bye, Ian |

yep, thats right. 60 watts in at 240 volts at 50 hertz.
thats why it was on a seperate line and the voltages out on another. |
