Question Preparing 8gb CF in Winuae for transfer to real Amiga 1200

Hello,

First i would like to explain that i have searched and looked/read all i could find about this process, but i still don't know wich way is the best to go.

My current situation.
---------------------
I have bought an amiga 1200 with an internal 2.5gb hdd, Viper 1260 @66mhz, 64mb ram.

Amigaos 3.5 installed on the internal hdd.

What i would like to do.
----------------------
Change the internal hdd to an 8gb Cf card with the correct ide2cf adapter.
Prepare the CF card in winuae, installing os3.9 partitioning the card and moving my complete whdload 4gb+ collection to the card.
I have all the WB disks in adf format, i have the 3.9 os unpacked on my pc harddrive.
I have bought an sandisk 8gb cf card and an amiga ide2cf adapter.

If someone would take the time to do a "short" step by step to do this i would be eternally happy.

And just to point out...never used an amiga before just a c64, and that was mainly gaming with a few poke commands ^^

Regards Marcus

One thing i would like to know if i have to use the cf2ide adapter iside the pc to be able to format and use the card inside winuae or if i can just plug the card into a regular cf reader and complete the task?

CF card reader (used some random "1inX" reader) should work fine.

Ok, great to know that it will work in a regular cf reader.

But then its just the litle problem with partitioning the cf card ^^
I have heard that the system have problem with partitions over 2gb?

If that is the case does it mean that i have to create 4 partitions to be able to use all space on the 8gb cf card?

It would be super if there was a guide or a document describing this procedure, i remember seeing one guide a while back but did not save the page and now i can't find it.

Thanks for the help

2G/4G issues have been talked here many times. Try searching for "Check4GB" for example.
