Hmmm, if you allread got a HD attached, you just need an IDE Adapter from 2,5" -> 3,5" IDE

Better get a 4Way-Adapter (IDEFix, Winner) .... you can use longer cables, because the device has a buffer for data

I only know of german amiga shops, so it won´t help you I guess the CD is easy to set up, the CDFileSystem should come on Disk with the Adapter !

stick a wanted ad on http://www.amibench.com for a 4 way ide i/f (they go for about £7)...

best one (and cheapest) I've found is the idefix jobbie, which should come with CacheCDFS, the best cd driver there is

If you have OS3.9 then you will already have CacheCDFS or if you have 3.1 then there is the original workbench cd driver, not brilliant but it works...

I haven't found 1 cdrom that won't work with CacheCDFS yet and I must have tested 100's when I worked in an amiga retail/repair shop...

Don't get the IDEFix jobbie. It's a DCE-manufactured thing, ie. really cheap components. The pins on the interface bend when you remove an IDE cable, the driver isn't particularly well written and it's a squeeze to fit it in the case. I've actually given up on my IDEFix interface, because it kept crashing my computer.

The Elbox/Winner interface, sold by Power, is a much more professional piece of hardware. It is made from quality components, takes up very little room in the computer as it attaches directly to the motherboard, and its driver can support >4GB drives on non-TD64 patched pre-WB3.5 operating systems.

Oh, and you won't get updated software for the Eyetech model - IDEFix was written by Elaborate Bytes, who have now moved on to writing PC software (cloneCD is one of their's, I think, and they've made a DVD region killer).

eh i have two of these idefix interfaces and nowhere does it say they are made by DCE? so it sounds like all the new one's are made by this DCE company.... from what i have heard this company are terrible! how do they stay afloat selling rubbish stuff?

It isn't on their webiste. In order to get driver updates, you need to email Elbox the serial number printed on the interface. They then email updates to you. The interface is shipped with the latest driver on a floppy.

If you haven't got the interface and are trying to use their drivers with the DCE model, don't bother - it is hardware-specific and will not work with other IDE interfaces.

Sorry, misread "device" as "driver". It was very late...

Anyhoo, check Power Computing's website - they sell the Elbox interface.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I now have the ELbox inteface. Unfortunately anoteh rproblem has arrisen, supplying power to the CD drive. I have tried attaching the power lea from the pc to the drive whilst plugging it into the AMiga put the PC suddenly stops supplying power whenever the IDE lead is connected and then resumes when detahced.

I assume I need a Y-cable to share the power with the AMiga floppy? Can anyone tell me wher eI can get one from?
Many thanks

Try this Eyetech link, to their selection of various cables.

I suggest the CABPW-3W-2H1F, which splits one HD power lead three ways, providing appropriate connectors for HD, floppy and CD drives.
