A2000 doesn't boot from HD

Hi,
since yesterday my A2000 doesn't boot from HD.
The thing I did before was transferring an ADF-File to the Amiga using transwarp and a PC. I cancelled the process on the PC first, then I rebooted the Amiga. From then on the Startupscreen (Kick 2.0) only accepts a disk in DF0.
Is the HD damaged, I need some 'How-To's' to reactivate the HD.

Thanks,
Bromosel

I own the WB 1.2 and 1.3 disks

I need more information in order to help you. What kind of controller do you have? Are you using Workbench 1.3? Does your hard disk "sound" the same?

The controller is: GVP Impact Series II SCSI/RAM controller.
I do not know which WB version is running on the HD. (I bought the A2000 2 years ago, before that I was only into A500, since 1987)
The HD makes some noises at startup and the LED is blinking. After a short time the diskdrive is requested.

Get rid of that GVP piece of crap and get yourself a Commodore A2091 SCSI controller. That will solve the problem. The A2091 card auto-configures and uses the same chip that is in the Amiga 3000.

Hi, TheAmigaMan

Is there any tool to check that the controller is the problem and not the HD?
Regarding using a HD on the Amiga I'm very new to this.
I'm thinking of reinstalling the whole thing based on WB 1.3.
Beside the WB 1.3 I do own the WB 3.0 (bought somewhere on the flea market).
But WB 3.0 is designed for Kick 3.0. On my A2000 there is a Kickstart-Switcher between 1.3 and 2.0. The WB 2.0 or 2.1 is hard to find.
I looked almost anywhere in the net for it. Is it that unpopular?

Cheers,
Dirk

PS: A simple method of checking or mounting the HD is needed...

When it comes to the Amiga 2000 Series, the Commodore A2091 SCSI Controller is the best and most reliable. The board auto-configures and an Amiga 2000 will automatically recognize it. There are no drivers to install and the board is very easy to setup and use. Also, the HDTools in Workbench was specifically programmed to recognize and use the A2091 board. It is very easy to "test" to see if a hard drive is good or bad. Just load up HDTools and "Add a new hard drive". Then tell HDTools to "read" the parameters from the hard drive itself. Most of the time the parameters will be read from the hard drive just fine. If HDTools can not get the parameters from the hard disk, or the wrong parameters are read in, then that means that the hard drive is not compatible with the Amiga or that the hard drive is bad. Let me tell you, I have 1 - Amiga 2500, 1 - Amiga 2000HD, and 6 - Amiga 2000 computers and they all have the Commodore A2091 and the A2320 "Amber" board in them. I have tried all of the other SCSI Controllers designed for the Amiga 2000 and they all suck! I kept coming back to the A2091 board because it works and it works very well.
